Mercedes-Benz Vision EQXX traveled 1000 kilometers on a single charge

The Vision EQXX concept, which was stated to be able to travel 1000 kilometers with a fully charged battery during the presentation, did not leave this on paper and reached a range of 1008 kilometers on the route from Germany to France.

Introduced with the claim of being Mercedes’ most efficient vehicle ever VisionEQXX It was announced that the concept offers a range of 1000 kilometers on a single charge. However, as it is known, the actual range value may be shorter than on paper. The German manufacturer took a long test drive to prove that this is not the case for the Vision EQXX.

Completed the 1008 km route on a single charge

Mercedes-Benz Vision EQXX showed that it was really assertive in this regard by reaching a full 1008 kilometers range on a single charge in the said journey . The vehicle, which set off from Sindelfingen in Germany, passed through the Gotthard Tunnel and Milan and reached Cassis in France. Vision EQXX, which started its journey in cold and rainy weather, was also exposed to traffic jams from time to time along the route.

The journey took exactly 12 hours and 2 minutes. There were two 15-minute breaks for driver change and for checking tire pressure. In other words, the Vision EQXX was in operation and on the go for 11 hours and 32 minutes nonstop. When we look at the data, we see that the average speed of the journey is 87.4 km/h , and the top speed of 140 km/h is occasionally reached on highways. The average energy consumption of the Vision EQXX during the journey was recorded as 8.7 kWh/100 km .

Interestingly, the Vision EQXX’s battery level was at 15% when the designated route ended. In other words, it was still at a level that could travel around 140 km after a journey of 1008 kilometers. The concept in question includes a battery pack with a capacity of approximately 100 kWh. Moreover, this battery is 50 percent smaller and 30 percent lighter, despite having almost the same capacity as the EQS.

On the other hand, tires with low rolling resistance, an air drag coefficient of 0.17 Cd and solar panels contributing 25 km to the range played a major role in covering this distance. Another important role was the energy gain from braking. The Vision EQXX went downhill for quite some time after the tunnel. EQXX, which is stated to be able to use this feature on every slope and in every braking maneuver, has benefited greatly from this during the journey.
