General characteristics and offers compared

Before explaining how to check fiber coverage, let me make some clarifications and provide you with some important information. First of all, you must know that the operators who currently offer optical fiber in Italy are: TIM (formerly Telecom Italia), Fastweb , Vodafone , Infostrada  and Tiscali .

Their networks, however, are not extended to the whole national territory. In fact, some of these operators guarantee fiber coverage only in some large cities (mostly in Northern Italy). As for the speed of the connection, it ranges from a minimum of 30 Mega to a maximum of 100 Mega, 300 Mega up, even, 10 Gigabit per second.

As for the plans, you can easily find out what are the offers of the moment by connecting to the SOSTariffe website  by clicking here and clicking on the Fiber icon   located in the left sidebar. Once this is done, you will be shown all the offers available in order of price, then from the cheapest to the most expensive.

Using the other options available in the left sidebar, you can filter your search in order to display only the rates that best suit your needs, for example those referring to a specific pension fee, those relating to a given Internet provider and so on. right away.

You can also view further details for each proposed plan simply by hovering the mouse cursor over the icons located in the blue bar: the phone icon  allows you to view the cost of calls, the  modem icon   shows the rental cost of the modem and so on. By clicking on the Details button   located next to the name of an offer, you can find out more details about it and subscribe directly online.

Check TIM fiber coverage

Are you interested in checking TIM fiber coverage (formerly Telecom Italia) in your area? So, to begin with, connect to the operator’s website by clicking here  and fill in the form that is proposed to you indicating the address of the home or office where you would like to activate the Internet line in the appropriate fields.

If you are asked to confirm the address among a series of similar addresses proposed automatically by the system, put the check mark next to the exact one and start the verification of the coverage by copying the security code in the text field located at the bottom right and by clicking on the Continue button  .

Within a few seconds the web page will be reloaded and you will get the test result. You will therefore be shown a list with the TIM offers that you can subscribe to. If your area is reached by optical fiber, you will be offered both fiber optic and ADSL plans, otherwise you will be shown only offers for the “classic” ADSL. For more details, you can consult my article on Telecom fixed network offers .

If, on the other hand, you are interested in understanding what you need to do to be able to check Fastweb fiber coverage, connect to the operator’s website by clicking here  and fill in the form that is proposed to you with your address . Then press the button to start the verification and that’s it.

Within a few seconds you will know if your area is reached by Fastweb optical fiber and which plans offered by the operator you can possibly subscribe to. For more info, take a look at my post on Fastweb offers .
