The Wayward Realms – Open World RPG from Former Elder Scrolls Developers

OnceLost Games studio has presented a teaser trailer for its new development called The Wayward Realms. It is worth noting that this studio was founded by Julian LeFay and Ted Peterson, who were the lead developers of the Elder Scrolls Arena and Elder Scrolls Daggerfall. The Wayward Realms is an open-world fantasy RPG, and according to the developers, they have pretty big ambitions. They call it nothing less than “a new class of games – a grand role-playing game”, which is based on complete freedom of customization and character development.

The official description of the game states: “The Wayward Realms takes place on a group of over 100 realistically scalable islands, collectively known as the Archipelago. Here, many factions vie for influence and power. Dynasties strive to maintain the status quo, upstarts strive to earn their place at the top, and intriguing influencers set in motion conspiracies. If a player takes a position near a prominent location, he (or she) can change the course of history. However, they must first prove their worth. Players will travel to strange lands, meeting people, elves, gnomes and other races of a more unusual character, all of which live in the territory of the Archipelago and its kingdoms. “

Of course, we want to ask one question: “We have very often heard the phrase that choices and consequences will appear before us on a scale that has never happened before .” Sounds very serious. But earlier developers giving such speeches did not live up to our expectations. We hope this time we will see what we are promised.

We don’t know when we will hear more about The Wayward Realms next time as no release date has been announced yet. But some system specifications for the game have been announced, and they are already raising questions. For a game that promises so much, the recommended disk space is limited to a modest 18GB. This leads us to speculate that this might not be a full-fledged first-person RPG, but something like The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim, or a third-person adventure game like The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

Whether it is true or not, we need to wait and see – the words and the result of the developers’ work are the same or not.
