The phone screen has stopped responding to pressing – why and what to do?

If the phone screen has stopped responding to touch, you can try to fix the problem yourself.
Why did the phone screen stop responding to clicks?
There may be several reasons for this. Let’s describe the most common of them.
1. Screen pollution
Dirt and greasy marks can interfere with the recognition of clicks on the phone screen. First of all, it is recommended to wipe the screen with a soft cloth and make sure that the touchscreen is clean.
2. Incorrectly pasted film or protective glass
If the film or glass is pasted poorly, dirt may remain under it or air bubbles may form. Because of this, the screen will not respond correctly to touch. In this case, the protection must be peeled off and again checked if the sensor is working.
3. Temporary failure
Due to high load on the phone (for example, too many applications running at the same time) or temporary system failures, the screen may stop responding during taps. This problem usually goes away on its own after rebooting the device.
4. Cracks and broken screen
For normal operation of the screen, the glass on the phone must not be damaged. If cracks appear on it, the sensor will sooner or later start to work with flaws, and then it may completely stop responding to touch.
5. Hits and falls
Drops and bumps can damage the internal parts of the device, such as the sensor control chips. Punching the screen may also be to blame – in this case, the damage will also not be visible, but the display may click or glare when you press it.
Important! If you suspect any internal damage, it is not recommended to try to fix the phone yourself. It is better to entrust this task to specialists, since repairs without the appropriate tools and experience can only exacerbate the problem with the screen.
6. Moisture ingress
Moisture that gets under the screen or inside the mobile device can easily cause it to break. If the phone has been dropped in water, rained, or liquid has been spilled on it, turn it off as soon as possible, dry it with towels, and then take it to a service center – small drops of water remain on the internal parts of the phone, which can cause corrosion, and you can’t remove them yourself without disassembling the device.
7. Wrong temperature regime
The phone screen may become temporarily unresponsive to touches due to too high or too low temperatures. In this case, the device must be turned off and left in a place with optimal temperature conditions until its internal temperature returns to normal.
8. Malicious or misbehaving applications
The problem can be caused by a virus or a poorly functioning application. If problems with the sensor appeared after installing any program, you need to remove it and scan the phone with an antivirus.
9. Change settings
Getting root rights or changing the settings yourself in other ways can cause the sensor to fail. In this case, only resetting the phone through Recovery will help.
What to do if the phone screen does not respond to pressing?
If the methods described above did not help, and it was not possible to find out the reason, it is worth trying a few more methods:
- Remove the SIM card and microSD card, then restart the phone and check the screen again.
- Start the phone in safe mode , in which only pre-installed programs work. This will allow you to check if any application installed by the owner or malware is affecting the operation of the touchscreen.
- Clear phone cache. To do this, you need to activate the Recovery mode and select the Wipe Cache Partition function .
- Reset the phone to factory settings (most likely, you will have to do this through Recovery ).
