Are you looking for some cool card solitaire to play with to ease tension or relieve boredom during breaks from work or study? Then I would say that you have landed on the right guide, at the right time. With this tutorial of mine today, in fact, I want to point out all those that, in my opinion, are the most interesting and compelling solutions in the category.

There are tons of them to try, both free and paid, both online and offline. And I’m not just talking about reinterpretations of the classic solitaire included in Windows (or Klondike), but also about other more or less known pastimes, such as Spider, Freecell, Pyramid, TriPeaks, Golf, Montana, Double Klondike. And the list could go on and on.

All solitaires are collected in applications for Windows, macOS and portable devices that contain dozens of pastimes. There are also, as already mentioned, Internet sites that allow you to play directly from the browser, all without facing boring registrations and without downloading additional software on your computer. So, can you know that you are waiting to try them? Good fun!

Card Solitaire for Windows

Do you have a Windows PC and are you looking for an alternative card solitaire to what is made available directly by Microsoft? Then immediately test the ones I have reported below. I’m sure they won’t let you down.

123 Free Solitaire

123 Frees Solitaire is an all-in-one card solitaire that offers a free package consisting of Klondike, FreeCell, Pyramid, Spider and other card games to play offline on your computer. It is characterized by very attractive graphics and the ability to customize the appearance of both the decks of cards and the game table. It is also available in a paid variant (costs $ 19.95), which includes additional features.

If you are using Windows 10 , you can download the version of the game available on the Microsoft Store , which has been designed specifically for the latest operating system of the Redmond company, by connecting to the relevant section of the latter and clicking on the Get button .

If you are using any other version of Windows, connect to its official website and click on the Free  Download button  . When the download is complete, double-click on it to open the .exe file you just downloaded and, in the window that appears on the desktop, click first on the Yes button  and then on the  Next button . Then put the check mark next to the item I accept the agreement (to accept the conditions of use of the game) and complete the setup by first clicking on the Next button   twice consecutively and on the Install and Finish buttons  .

Once the download and installation procedure is complete, the window for selecting the solitaire to launch will automatically open: double-click on the name of a game and start having fun!

To change the appearance of the deck of cards or game table, select the Appearance tab in the 123 Free Solitaire toolbar (top left) and click the Select card set and Select background buttons . To return to the solitaire selection menu, instead, select the Game tab and click on the Select a Solitaire button .

XM Solitaire

If you are not satisfied with the number of games included in 123 Free Solitaire, try XM Solitaire – it is a free and open source collection of over 200 solitaire games  for Windows. Includes Freecell, Klondike, Fan, Spider, Pyramid, Gaps and many other pastimes. Its graphics are not particularly elaborate, but for a card solitaire this aspect can easily take a back seat.

To download XM Solitaire on your PC, connect to the game download page on the SourceForge website and click on the green Download button . Once the download is complete, extract the ZIP archive you just obtained in any location, then start the .exe file inside it.

Now that you see the main XM Solitaire window, select the solitaire you want to play from the list that is shown to you and click the OK button to start enjoying.

If you want, you can also make customizations to the game using the menus at the top. For example, you can change the back of the cards by selecting the one you prefer from the Cell menu , you can change the background color from the Background menu , the distance between cards from the View menu etc.

Card Solitaire for macOS

Are you using macOS and would like to find out if there is what good card solitaire you can have fun with? Yes, of course! Try the ones you find listed below. I am sure you will like them!

Full Deck Solitaire

The first of the macOS solitaires that I suggest you try is  Full Deck Solitaire , a free game that includes Klondike, Spider, Pyramid and many other solitaires with extremely accurate graphics and animated backgrounds. Note that it offers in-app purchases (starting at € 1.09) to increase the number of games available

To download it on your Mac, connected to the relevant section of the Mac App Store online , click on the View button in the Mac App Store and, in the Mac App Store window that opens on the desktop, press the Get / Install button . If necessary, authorize the download by typing your Apple ID password in the on-screen field (or using Touch ID , if you have a Mac equipped with this component). Then, start the game by pressing the Open button or by clicking on its icon (the one with the French cards ) that has been added to the Launchpad .

Once the main screen of Full Deck Solitaire is displayed, press the Close button and start having fun. The solitaire proposed by default is the Klondike. To play another solitaire, click on the Menu button   located at the bottom left and choose the one you prefer from the list.

I would also like to point out that, from the screen displayed after calling up the menu, it is also possible to press the Customize button (located at the bottom right) to customize the background and the back of the cards.

Solitaire 3D

If you are looking for a card solitaire with a larger number of games inside and more spectacular graphics, perhaps in 3D, take a look at Solitaire 3D which includes 80 card pastimes, including: Klondike, Pyramid, Spider, Giza, Black Hole, Scorpion and many more. It is paid (costs $ 9.95), but is available in a free, lifetime-functional trial that includes only Freecell, Gaps, Pyramid, Scorpion, and Twenty. Note that, in addition to being available for macOS, it can also be used on Windows, Android and iOS.

To download it on your Mac, connect to its official website and click first on the Mac / PC link  and then on the  Download Mac OS X Version link  .

When the download is complete, extract the ZIP file you just obtained to any location on your computer and drag the game icon (the one with the spades suit ) to the Mac Applications folder . Then, right-click on it and select the item Open from the context menu, in order to start Solitaire 3D, however, going around the limitations that Apple imposes on applications from non-certified developers (an operation that must be performed only at the first start).

At this point, press the I Agree button in the window that has opened on the desktop, choose whether to start the software in full screen ( Fullscreen ) or in window mode ( Windowed ), adjust the other game settings and click on the Start Game button .

Then configure a game profile by clicking on New player  (bottom left) and typing your name, then access the solitaire selection screen by clicking on the Continue  button and choose the pastime you like best, by clicking on its name in the list on the left and on the New button   (top right).

If you want, you can also change the game table used, the back of the cards, the type of display etc. To do this, click on the Options button on the main screen of the game or, with solitaire started, on the Menu button (top right) and select the Options item from the menu that appears.

Online Card Solitaire

Let’s move on to online solutions now . Below you will find, therefore, the solitaires with which you can have fun directly from the browser window (eg Chrome or Firefox) without having to download and install anything on your computer. They are all free and work from any operating system.

World of Solitaire

Among the most beautiful online card solitaires on the market,  World of Solitaire  undoubtedly deserves a favor. It has a nice user interface, can be used without registration and does not even require Flash Player, as it is based on HTML5. It includes various solitaires, such as the classic Klondike, Monte Carlo, Freecell, Colorado, Spider and many others.

To play, connect to the World of Solitare website and start having fun. By default the Klondike is proposed, but if you want to select a different solitaire just click on the Choose game button at the top left, click on the name of the game you want to start and press the Play button .

Instead, to intervene on the settings and change the appearance of the solitaire, use the items on the screen which you can access by clicking on the Options button located at the top right

Net Solitaire

If you are looking for a valid alternative to the online solitaire I have already told you about, I recommend you try  Net Solitaire . Allows you to play different solitaire games, such as Klondike, Spider, Pyramid, Freecell and many others. It offers no options and is also based on HTML5 technology.

To begin playing, visit the site of Net Solitaire Click on the name of the solitary interests among those in the list and you’re done. If and when you want, you can select a different game by clicking on the Games button located at the bottom left.

Card Solitaire for Android and iOS

And for smartphones and tablets? What are the best card solitaires around? But what questions! Those that I have reported to you below. They are for both Android and iOS . Using them, you can pass the time and “kill time” even when you are not in front of the computer.

Solitaire by Brainium Studios

Solitaire by Brainium Studios is a nice classic (Klondike) type 1 and 3 card solitaire with 3D graphics and customizable themes. It is available for both Android and iOS and is totally free.

To download it on your device, connect to the relevant section of the Play Store (in the case of Android) or the App Store (in the case of iOS) using the links I have provided you a moment ago and install it by pressing the appropriate buttons on the screen . Then, start the game by pressing the Open button or its icon (the one with the French cards ) added to the screen where all the applications are grouped.

Once the main screen of the game is displayed, you can immediately start solving the proposed solitaire. If you want to access the options, press the Options button  (bottom left), while to customize the appearance of the solitaire, tap the Themes button (always located at the bottom). If you are unable to view the aforementioned items, first call up the relevant menu by pressing the arrow at the bottom of the screen.

250+ solitaire collection

250+ Solitaire Collection  is, as the name suggests quite easily, a free collection of solitaire games comprising over 250 pastimes, including Freecell, Klondike, Canfield and others. The graphics aren’t great, but you can’t want everything out of life. It is compatible with both Android and  iOS .

To install it on your smartphone or tablet, visit the relevant section of the Play Store (in the case of Android) or the App Store (in the case of iOS) using the links I have just provided and install it by pressing the appropriate buttons on the display . Then, open the game by pressing the Open button or its icon (the one with the French cards ) added to the screen where all the applications are grouped.

At this point, select the Categories item (at the top), expand the category of solitaire you are interested in and press on the name of the game you want to start. Then presses on the item Start new game . If you see a screen appear to adjust the game settings, make all the necessary changes and then press the arrow at the top left to access the solitaire.
