Phone backup – Android backup

Instructions for backing up all phone contents.

Backing up your phone is a fast and secure way to save the data that is stored on your device. Breakdown, loss or change of the smartphone entails the loss of contacts, photos and other information. Backup allows you to put all your important files in one place and then easily move them to a new phone. There are many ways to create a backup.

Backup via Google Drive

The user can manually back up all the necessary files through the phone settings. To do this, follow a simple instruction:

  1. In the settings, find the item “Google”.
  2. Select “Backup”.
  3. Press the “Start Copy” button.

Below in the same window is a list of files and applications that will be saved using the Google service. Next to each item is the time when it was last backed up. Here you can make sure that all data is saved on time and will not be lost in case of force majeure.

Create a backup using Google Play apps

There are enough apps on Google Play that can make life easier for users. If for some reason you can’t back up using your Google account, just enter the phrase “backup” in the application search and select one of the programs (pay attention to the rating and reviews).

As a rule, in such applications, after selecting the “Backup” item, a list of all possible data that can be saved to the cloud opens. It remains to add a checkmark next to the necessary items and start creating a copy. Here is an example of how it looks in the Super Backup program:

Important! With the help of third-party applications, you can save SMS messages, while this is not provided in the standard backup.

Backup photos and videos in Google Photos

If the main files that the user wants to keep? this is a video and photo, just use the Google Photos application .

  1. Download this app and sign in with your Google account.
  2. Find the “Settings” item and select “Startup and sync” in it. This item must be enabled for files to be automatically saved to the cloud.

When the user logs into the application on another device under his account, all photos and videos will be available to him.

USB backup

In case the other methods cannot be performed, you can manually create a backup using USB and a computer. You need to do the following:

  1. Plug one side of the USB cable into your phone and the other side into your computer.
  2. On the phone notification that appears, select File Transfer.
  3. Open the phone data disc on your computer.
  4. Manually transfer the necessary data to the PC (here is a more detailed instruction ).

Backup with Root rights

Advanced rooted users can create a copy using Custom Recovery. This is an environment that allows you to restore your smartphone, as well as make backups. To do this, the user must install one of the common utilities (for example, TWRP Recovery), go to the BackUp menu, check the boxes next to the files that you want to save, and confirm the creation of a copy.

There are many ways to create a backup  – it depends on the user’s goals and many other factors . However, the safest and most reliable way  is to manually transfer all the necessary data to a computer, flash drive or SD card.
