OneDrive keeps syncing? We provide 13 solutions to fix the problem
OneDrіve is used to save / synchronize information data and configuration on devices of Windows 10 users. But the application may not function correctly, because cloud storage is undergoing changes. One of the problems is “eternal” synchronization.
1. Preliminary actions
Before following the troubleshooting algorithm, perform preliminary manipulations:
- Check if the latest OS and OneDrive are installed. Fill in the search string: “Update” -> “Check for updates” -> “check for availability”.
- The size of the file transferred to the cloud should not exceed 10 GB.
- Make sure your internet connection is stable and reliable.
2. Restart the application
Go to notifications on the taskbar, launch the utility’s context menu. Then exit, close OneDrive. Find the utility through the search bar, run it.
3. Are you logged into your Windows account?
Let’s find out as follows.
- Start -> Settings -> Accounts section.
- Choosing your account. We look at the connection to it: if not logged in, click “Login”, log in.
4. Removing registry directories
“Run” -> Search -> enter regedit -> enter-> delete registry keys:
- % localappdata% microsoft office spw
Path: HKEY_CURRENT_USER Software Microsoft Office 15.0 Common Identity Identities
- % localappdata% microsoft office 15.0 officefilecache
Branch: HKEY_CURRENT_USER Software Microsoft Office 15.0 Common Identity Profiles.
5. Manual data selection
In the toolbar, right-click on VanDrive, select Settings. Go to the “Account” tab, find “Synchronize all files” or mark the items manually.
6. Path to data for transfer to the cloud
Let’s try another method. We start “This computer” -> OneDrіve on the left panel -> we are looking for the necessary electronic documents. Stick to the algorithm. Make sure the path to the file is short, no more than 255 characters. The long path causes the complexities of the information exchange mechanism.
7. Not enough free space
In order to synchronize information, a sufficient amount of free memory is required, otherwise the process will be problematic.
8. Disconnecting the account from OneDrive
Disconnecting the connection with the account, and then starting the installation wizard again will help to solve our problems. Right-click the notification area utility shortcut. The path is as follows: -> Settings-> “Unlink”. Follow the instructions to select the information and the desired location.
9. Change of Microsoft account to local and vice versa
- “Run” -> “Parameters”.
- Account -> section “Your data” -> “Login with a local account”, follow the algorithm.
- Then: accounting. account-> “Sign in to your Microsoft account”, follow the instructions.
10. Move the root folder of the application
Create a new folder, name it “ОnеDrive” -> context menu of the object> Settings -> find the account section -> click Unlink with this PC. Repeat the setup procedure. Make sure to select the location of the new folder.
11. Change where the SharePoint libraries sync
Click the OneDrive shortcut on the taskbar. Then Stop sync folder. Select the problem folder -> stop synchronization -> OK -> ОnеDrіve library. We carry out. Then “Change”, in the dialog box, specify the new location of the local disk.
12. Reboot the program
If all described methods do not work, restart the application. Before doing this, do the following:
- Start -> write CMD in the search bar.
- Right click, “Command Prompt” -> Run as administrator.
- Enter% localappdata% Microsoft OneDrive onedrive.exe / resetand. Press Enter.
- Check if the program icon has disappeared from the taskbar.
- After a couple of minutes, check for the icon. If not, we look for the utility through the search, then press “Enter” to restart the application.
13. Conflicts of electronic documents
When you make changes to the data during synchronization, file conflicts may occur. If there is a “conflict”, rename the data and start the process again. We hope one of the thirteen solutions to the problem was effective!
