I can’t receive a call on Android. What to do

Android is far from a perfect platform. Therefore, there is nothing to be surprised that from time to time certain incidents occur with its users. Either the application does not load , then the charging sits down too quickly , then updates do not come , then the call cannot be answered. But if the first three problems are guaranteed to depend on the smartphone, then for some reason the operator is always blamed for the latter. But this is not always the case. Therefore, before you complain to tech support, try doing something yourself.

Phone calls don’t go through

The first thing I would try to turn on and off the flight mode . This is tantamount to removing the SIM card, since activating it resets the Network settings, which may interfere with receiving calls. Therefore, just open the notification shade and click on the airplane icon, and after 5-10 seconds, click on it again to turn off the mode.

How to clear the cache on your phone

If the call, in principle, does not go through and you cannot see what they called you at all, try clearing the cache of the “Phone” application . This is as easy as shelling pears:

  • Go to “Settings” – “Applications”;
  • Select “Applications” and find “Phone”
  • Open the tab of the “Phone” application;
  • Select “Memory” and then “Clear cache”.

The call is dropped after the first ring

However, it happens that you yourself do not see the call, but the missed one still appears in the Phone application. There may be two reasons for this. First, you added the caller to the blacklist (on Huawei and Honor smartphones, calls from people on the blacklist do not go through, but are displayed as missed ones). Second, you have Do Not Disturb mode enabled. This means that both options need to be checked.

How to know if a person is blacklisted

  • Launch the “Phone” application on your smartphone;
  • Click on the three dots on the right in the corner and select “Locked”;
  • Select “Blocking rules” – “Black list”;
  • Find the number of the required subscriber and exclude it from there.

Turn off Do Not Disturb Mode

  • Go to “Settings” and select “Notifications”;
  • From here go to the “Do not disturb” section;
  • If it is enabled, disable or reconfigure;
  • If you want to receive calls in Do Not Disturb mode, add your favorite contacts who will be able to call you.

Can’t get through the phone

The problem that prevents you from receiving calls may also be that the application you are using is interfering with this. If you have ever changed the standard “Phone” to a third-party one, then you should return everything back. Practice shows that sometimes this becomes the primary reason.

How to change your calling app

  • Go to “Settings” and open the “Applications” tab;
  • Select “Default Applications” and open “Phone”;
  • In the window that opens, mark the standard “Contacts” application;
  • Go out and ask to call you again to check.

Cellular Signal Strength – How To View

You may be unable to receive a call due to a weak network signal . The divisions in the upper left corner, which indicate the quality of the reception, may often not correspond to reality. Therefore, you need to check in more reliable sources. For example, in a special section of system settings:

  • Go to “Settings” and select “About phone”;
  • In the window that opens, select “General information”;
  • Here find the “Communication” or “Network Status” tab;
  • Check the signal strength indicator (measured in negative dbm units).

The stronger the signal, the closer the figure is to zero. The weaker the signal, the further from zero your score will be. Let’s say the signal is strong and confident. In this case, the dbm will fluctuate between -40 and -70. And, if it is weak or completely absent, then it will reach -120. This is the absolute minimum, which means that it is not about you, but about the coverage of the area where you are trying to take a call.

How to write to the operator

Well, and if none of the above helps, you should contact the operator. Sometimes this turns out to be the only salvation. For example, when I just switched to Tinkoff Mobile, my phone was periodically out of reach, although I did not leave the city limits. Therefore, I contacted support. They fiddled about something, and everything returned to normal.

It is best to contact support via live chat, because the phone usually does not work for you. However, if you get to the operator by phone, it works out, so much the better. Outline your situation and threaten to go to competitors. Usually within a day or two or three the problem is solved, and everything starts working as it should.
