How and when to return Sky decoders

Before explaining in detail how to return Sky decoders , it may be useful to know what are the methods and, above all, the timing for returning all the devices owned by Sky that you received when activating your subscription.

First of all, you must know that if you are a Sky customer on DTT you will not have to return any device. In all other cases, you are required to return the Sky decoder  connected to your TV, including any Sky Q Mini in your possession if you are a Sky Q customer , the Smart Card inserted in the appropriate input of the decoder, the Sky remote control supplied with the decoder and the power supply that allows you to connect the Sky decoder to the mains.

Furthermore, if they have been delivered to you, you will also have to return the HDMI cable , which allows you to connect the Sky decoder to the TV and enjoy the contents in HD or 4K, and the Sky Digital Key , the “key” to be connected to the decoder and which allows to see the digital terrestrial channels through the Sky decoder.

Finally, I want to give you one last piece of advice: since there are penalties in case of returning a damaged or non-functioning decoder , you can follow the instructions I have given you in my guide on how to change Sky decoders and, in case the problems are attributable to a malfunction of the decoder itself, request its free replacement. The same goes for changing the Sky remote control .

How to return Sky decoders to the store

If your intention is to return Sky Q decoders or would like to know how to return My Sky HD decoders , all you have to do is put the decoder in your possession and all the devices that I indicated earlier in the original box that was delivered to you and go to a Sky store in person.

To find a Sky shop in your area, connected to the official pay TV website , click on the Locate me option visible near the entry Enter a location and press the Allow button , to allow the browser to locate it. Alternatively, manually enter your address in the field provided.

Once this is done, press on the item Services , select the Return materials option and click on the Search button , to view the Sky stores where you can deliver the decoder and the various devices following the termination of your subscription.

Then click on the placeholder for the store of your interest to view its opening hours and complete address. Furthermore, if available for the selected store, by clicking on the Book option , you can also book an appointment by choosing the date and time you prefer.

At this point, all you have to do is go in person to the chosen Sky store, contact a sales representative and deliver the package with the decoder and the devices to be returned.

Following the return of the decoder and all the equipment received on loan for use, you will receive a  receipt  which will certify the delivery of all products.

How to return Sky decoders by post

If you are wondering if it is possible to return Sky decoders by post , I am sorry to tell you that the answer is no.

As I indicated in the previous lines of this guide, the return of the devices following the cancellation of your subscription can only be done in a Sky shop .

Only Sky WiFi customers who have decided, during the registration phase, to use a proprietary modem, can return the Sky WiFi Hub and all the materials contained in the delivery box by booking their collection at home.

How to return late Sky decoders

If more than 60 days have passed from the moment you received the communication of the termination of the Sky contract, you must know that the procedures for returning a delayed Sky decoder are the same as I indicated in the previous paragraphs of this guide.

Keep in mind, however, that in this case there are penalties that vary depending on the decoder delivered late and that can reach a maximum amount of 200 euros.

  • Sky Q Platinum decoder : up to 200 euros;
  • Sky Q Black decoder : up to 150 euros;
  • Sky Q decoder via the Internet : up to 150 euros;
  • My Sky HD decoder : up to 150 euros;
  • HD decoder : up to 75 euros;
  • SD decoder : up to 21 euros.

Furthermore, you should know that there are additional penalties for all other devices delivered beyond 60 days. In particular, you will have to pay 80 euros for each single Sky Q Mini  and 30 euros for each external power supply , remote control , Smart Card and Sky Digital Key delivered late.

How not to return Sky decoders

How do you say? Would you like to know if it is possible not to return Sky decoders ? In that case, you need to know that the answer is positive but you will have to pay a penalty for non-return.

As I indicated above for the delayed return of the Sky decoder (and also in the case of the return of damaged devices), if you do not return the devices that were provided to you on loan for use during the activation of your subscription. Sky, you are required to pay a penalty for each device not returned.

Also in this case, the penalty varies according to the devices in your possession and can reach a maximum of 200 euros per decoder, to which up to 80 euros must be added for each single Sky Q Mini not returned and up to 30 euros for any external power supply, remote control, Smart Card and Sky Digital Key that you have decided to keep.
