Preliminary operations

The first step to be able to install Kaspersky already purchased on your computer is to retrieve the program activation code: the latter is sent by email when digitally purchased, or is pre-printed on the package of sale of the product (for the purchase of software in physical version). Once this code has been retrieved, it must be associated with a new or existing My Kaspersky profile, which must then be used to log in to the product.

However, this operation is not necessary for purchases made from smartphones and tablets, as the license is automatically associated with the My Kaspersky profile in use at the time of the transaction.

If you have already redeemed your license but you have reached the limit number of associated computers, smartphones or tablets, you will instead have to access your profile to delete those you no longer use, in order to make room for the new devices to be protected. Read on for all the details.

Redeem the activation code

To be able to redeem a Kaspersky activation code (which consists of 5 sequences of 5 characters each, mixed between numbers and letters), connect to the My Kaspersky platform using any browser and, if you already have an account, press the Login tab and login.

If you have not yet created a My Kaspersky profile, select the Register tab instead, enter a valid email address and a password to be used to protect the account (which must be no less than 8 characters, including at least one number, one capital letter and one lowercase letter) and click on the Create account button, to immediately register a new profile.

Subsequently, access the email address stated above, open the message received from Kaspersky and click on the Verify email address button contained in it, in order to activate the newly created account.

At the end of the login, select the Licenses tab located at the top (if you do not see it immediately, first press the ☰ button at the top left and select the Licenses item from the menu that appears), locate the Add activation code box and enter the code of 25 digits in your possession in the box below, without typing the separating dashes between the groups of digits ( “-” ): the latter are inserted automatically.

Finally, press the Add button and that’s it: after a few moments, you should see a notification message indicating the license activation, containing all the information relating to the same (product name, type and quantity of devices that can be associated and etc).

If you are interested in obtaining information about the licenses activated on your My Kaspersky account, go to the Licenses section again and press on the name of the one you are interested in, to view its details (personal devices protected / available, activation date, expiration date/renewal, license key for technical support, and so on).

Forget old devices

If you have already redeemed your license by associating it with your account but you cannot use it because you have reached the maximum limit of devices associated with it, you must necessarily disassociate those you no longer use, in order to make room for the new ones.

To do this, access your My Kaspersky profile as I indicated earlier and click on the Devices item located at the top, if you are using the computer. If, on the other hand, you are using a smartphone or tablet, first touch the ☰ button and then the Licenses item located in the menu that appears.

Now locate the device to be deleted in the list that appears: when you have found it, press on its name, then on the Disconnect device item (located on the left on a computer and on the side on smartphones and tablets) and finally presses on the OK button: following this operation, Kaspersky programs or apps will stop working on the chosen device and the license thus released can be used immediately on a new device.

How to install Kaspersky already purchased

Once you have successfully associated the previously purchased Kaspersky product key within your account, you can proceed with installing the software on your device. The program or app (in this case, I will refer to Kaspersky Security Cloud ) must be associated with the same account on which the license was previously redeemed.

Windows

If you are using the Windows operating system and you have not yet installed the program on your computer, proceed as follows: first, connect to your My Kaspersky profile as I have indicated above, click on the Download item located at the top, press on the Windows tab and then press the Download button corresponding to the product for which you have previously activated the license (eg Security Cloud ).

Now, click the Download button for Windows and wait for the file to be copied to your computer; when the download is complete, open the file obtained (eg. ksX.Y.Zit_xxx.exe ) and follow the instructions that are shown to you to proceed. In the case of Security Cloud, you must click Continue, place the checkmark next to the boxes relating to the License Agreement and the privacy policy and then press the Accept button.

Next, indicate whether or not to accept the conditions on the use of personal data by Kaspersky Security Network and for marketing purposes (it is not mandatory, you can refuse the conditions by clicking on the I do not accept button ), specify whether to install Kaspersky Password Manager or no, by intervening on the dedicated box, then press the Install and Yes buttons and wait for the download and installation procedure of the program to be completed: depending on the speed of the Internet connection and the performance of the computer, the procedure may take several minutes.

At the end of the setup, choose the initial settings to apply by checking the appropriate boxes (if you don’t know what to do, leave everything as it is) and click on the Apply and Finish buttons to finish installing the program.

The game is practically done: at the first start, you will be asked to log in to My Kaspersky, in order to activate the license in your possession: then type the email address associated with your account in the appropriate text box, click on the [>] button (or press Enter ) and, in the same way, specify the password of the account in question. Within a few seconds, the user license will be imported into the program, which will immediately become operational.

How do you say? You previously installed and activated a free/trial version of a Kaspersky product, with a temporary license associated with another profile and now would you like to redeem the paid one in your possession? Don’t worry, it’s that easy.

To start, call up the main screen of your Kaspersky product (eg Security Cloud) using the icon on the desktop or in the Windows Start menu, locate the email address associated with the temporary license in question, click on it and select the item Change account from the menu that appears. Once this is done, click on the Yes button and log in to the My Kaspersky profile that contains the license to be activated, following the same instructions as previously seen.

macOS

The steps to be taken on Macs are quite similar to those seen for Windows: therefore, if you have not yet installed the program, connect to your My Kaspersky profile as I explained to you in the previous chapter of this guide, click on the Download item , select the Mac tab and press the Download button corresponding to the program for which you have a regular license (eg Security Cloud ). Then, click the Download for Mac button and wait for the program to download to your computer.

When the download is complete, open the file obtained (eg. Kaspersky Security Cloud.dmg ), double-click the Install [product name] icon residing in the window that opens, click the Open buttons (if necessary) and Download and install and, after checking the boxes relating to the acceptance of the terms and conditions of the License Agreement with Kaspersky and to the processing of data, start the installation by pressing the Accept and Ignore buttons twice consecutively, so as to prevent the ” sending personal data for analysis and marketing purposes.

Then, when prompted, enter the Mac password in the appropriate text box, press the OK button and wait for the computer to copy and configure the files of the Kaspersky product of your choice, then completing the installation.

At the end of the setup, press the Finish button and proceed with setting the permissions necessary to run the program, following the instructions that appear on the screen: click on the InstallOpen Security & Privacy and OK buttons, click on the padlock symbol locked in the lower left corner of the screen that appears, enter the Mac password when prompted and press the Allow button, visible at the bottom right, so as to authorize the Kaspersky system extension.

After this step, click on the first of the Allow buttons, open Security & Privacy by pressing the appropriate button and, after having enabled the system changes again (you have to click on the locked padlock at the bottom left), put the checkmark next to all items related to Kaspersky.

Now, click on the remaining Allow buttons, answer affirmatively to the warning messages that appear later (also inserting the computer password, if necessary) and press the Continue button. Finally, choose whether or not to enable the additional protections by acting on the appropriate buttons and click on the Continue button again to complete the configuration of the program.

If everything went smoothly, access to the My Kaspersky profile should be done completely automatically; alternatively, you will be asked to enter the credentials of the account you have associated the license with.

If you need to change your account because, for example, you have used a trial license combined with another email address, open the main Kaspersky window, click on the “test” email located at the bottom left, press the Disconnect button and log in using the My Kaspersky profile on which you have activated the license.

Android / iOS / iPadOS

To be able to use a Kaspersky license already active on smartphones and tablets, all you have to do is download the relevant Kaspersky product from the reference store of your device and log in using the account you have associated the license with.

So, to get started, open the Play Store, the App Store or any other market available on your device (eg. HUAWEI AppGallery ), search for the product of your interest (eg. Kaspersky Security Cloud ) using the integrated store function and, when you have found it, press the Install / Get button to download it. If necessary, verify your identity using facial recognition, fingerprint or account password configured on the device.

Once the app has been downloaded, open it, accept the license agreement and the privacy policy by clicking on the appropriate boxes, click on the Confirm button and, when prompted, enter the email associated with your My Kaspersky profile in the appropriate field. To conclude, click on the Continue button, enter the account password and tap on the Continue button again, in order to import the license.

If you have already installed one of the Kaspersky apps and want to associate the My Kaspersky profile on which you have activated the license, tap the ☰ button visible at the top left, tap on the email in use located at the top of the menu that goes to open and tap on the square symbol with the arrow pointing right, located at the top, to disconnect from the profile in use. Finally, tap the Disconnect button and log in with the correct My Kaspersky profile, as seen above.
