How to find the mansion in Minecraft: Your adventure in Minecraft, Mojang’s popular sandbox video game, has finally begun and you are having a great time. However, your favorite youtuber introduced you to a mysterious building called the mansion and you would like to reach it too, but at the moment you just can’t figure out how to do it. You tried to search for information on Google, but you didn’t find anything useful about it … at least until you came here, on this page!

In today’s guide, in fact, I will explain how to find the mansion in Minecraft. In case you were wondering, I will show you how to do this without using any kind of “trick” and then, if you are interested, I will explain how to achieve the same goal through “shortcuts” to speed up the procedure. I will not fail to explain to you what the mansion consists of and why it can be useful.

Preliminary information

Before going into the details of the procedure on how to find the mansion on Minecraft, I think it may interest you to know more about this building and its usefulness.

Let’s start by saying that the real name of the mansion of Minecraft is the home of the forest  ( “Woodland mansion” in English) and it is a structure rather rare to find. It is in fact generated randomly by the game and must be searched for well within the biome of the dark oak forest. The structure of the building can vary a lot, as it is created by the algorithm. In any case, it usually consists of 2 or 3 floors.

This is the only place where you can obtain the Totem of Immortality item without mod, which allows you to save the player from death. Furthermore, inside the forest mansion it is possible to face enemies that are only found in this way and obtain a good amount of materials and objects that would otherwise be difficult to find.

How to find the mansion in Minecraft without seeds

If you’re playing a regular game of Minecraft and don’t want to resort to cheats, you can find a mansion by using a forest explorer map. Obviously, all the steps described in this chapter are valid for Minecraft Survival mode. You could test this method in Creative mode as well, but clearly it would make little sense, since in the latter you can create all the various objects automatically.

The map can be bought from the cartographer villager, or a non-player character (NPC) found in the various villages in the game. The cartographer can have different appearances, depending on the village he is in. In any case, you just need to press on an NPC (e.g. right mouse button in the Java version of Minecraft) to bring up a window explaining his profession: if at the top it says Cartographer, it is the character who does it. for you.

To find the villages without using any tricks, you have to look for it in a plain, savannah, taiga, tundra or desert biome and be lucky enough to find yourself in front of one of them. For more details, I recommend that you check out my tutorial on how to find a village in Minecraft.

Finding a cartographer can take a lot of patience, since he is a particularly rare character, who only lives in a small percentage of villages (the cartographer is randomly generated): it took me several hours to find him too!

In any case, the forest explorer map appears as a high-level trade (eg Expert) from the cartographer and requires the outlay of 14/28 emeralds and a compass. To get the cartographer to a high level, you will have to bring him whatever he asks of you. To give you a concrete example, I had to recover many sheets of paper, glass panels and emeralds.

As for the compass, it is made by combining 4 iron ingots and 1 Redstone powder. The redstone can be found in the mines, using a pickaxe to collect this resource (the blocks have red elements on each face). In order not to let the NPC escape, my advice is to lock the cartographer in a structure created by you, so that he cannot walk and that you can return to find him in that position.

Once you have the Forest Explorer map, you can use it to reach the mansion, although the game does not always show the closest building. The white dot represents your character’s location, while the house icon is the forest abode.

If, on the other hand, you have the Java version of Minecraft and you want to speed up the process through “tricks”, you can use specific commands that will help you find the job without having to buy the forest explorer map. However, to do this, the controls must be activated in the world you are playing in.

If you have not yet created the world with active commands, all you have to do is go to the main Minecraft screen, press in succession on Single player, Create a new world, Otherworld options and set the Commands item to Yes. At this point, first click on Done and then on Create a new world.

Once in the game, press the T button on your keyboard, type the command / locate Village, to find a village, or / locate Mansion, to find the forest mansion directly, and press Enter. The command to find the mansion may not work if you are far away from the forest mansion. In short, even in the case of the use of commands you may be forced to go to a village and buy the map of the forest explorer or you should try to get closer to the mansion (but this depends a lot on luck).

In any case, to teleport to a village or forest mansion, open the chat again with the T key on your keyboard, type the command/teleport [player name] XYZ and press Enter. Obviously, the nickname entered must be yours and the X, Y and Z coordinates must be replaced with those you obtained by typing the previous command (eg / teleport Aranzulla -960, ~, -448 ). In some cases, you may be teleported underground, and then ascend. For more information, I invite you to take a look at my guide on how to teleport in Minecraft.

How to find the mansion in Minecraft via seed

One of the most used methods to quickly find the Minecraft mansion is to use the seeds or the special “codes” that allow you to understand how your world is structured within the game.

To do this in the Java version of Minecraft, open a game in which the commands are activated (I explained to you how to activate these “tricks” in the chapter on how to find the mansion in Minecraft without seeds ), press the T button on the keyboard, type the command/seed and press Enter.

At this point, write down the value that appears on the screen (the one in green) and connect to the Woodland Mansion Finder site from any web browser. Now, enter the seed in the search field and press the blue Find Mansions button.

If there is a mansion in your game, the map will show you its location through a dot. At the bottom of the site you will be shown the coordinates of the forest-dwelling.

Perfect: now all you have to do is reach the place indicated by the site and that’s it. Of course, you can also help by making use of the / teleport command, as I explained to you in the previous chapter. Easy, right?
