• GTA 4(or GTA IV ) was released in 2008 on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC. It also received a revision to be played on Xbox One as well. It is the first game in the series to feature an official multiplayer mode. The game received two expansions: Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost and Damned and Grand Theft Auto IV: The Ballad of Gay. These expansions can be purchased separately or you can receive them all with the purchase of the Grand Theft Auto IV: The Complete Edition bundle.

• GTA 3(or GTA III ) is the third installment of the saga which, unlike the previous chapters, was designed with three-dimensional graphics. It was released in 2001 and distributed on PlayStation 2. Subsequently, versions compatible with Xbox, PC, macOS, Android and iOS were released.
• GTA 2is the second installment of the saga that was released in 1999 on PlayStation, Sega Dreamcast, PC and Game Boy Color. It is set in a fictional American city called Anywhere City. This chapter also has a 2D top down view.
• GTAis the first installment that debuted on PlayStation, PC and GameBoy in 1997. It is set in the fictional cities of Liberty City, Vice City and San Fierro. It has a 2D top down view. This first chapter received two expansions: Grand Theft Auto: London 1969 and Grand Theft Auto: London 1961.

However, the GTA saga does not end there. Other content has also been published that can be defined as spin-offs. Below you will list the spin-offs published to date:

• Grand Theft Auto: Advanceis a GTA spin-off developed exclusively for the Game Boy Advance platform. Just like the first two chapters of the saga, it also has 2D top-down graphics.

How to install GTA on computer

GTA can be downloaded from several stores. In this tutorial I will focus on Steam , but you can also find it, for example, on the Epic Games Store , which among other things has granted the free download of GTA 5 as a promotion in May 2020 (always keep an eye on these offers!) . Here, then, is how to proceed.

Preliminary Phase: Steam Installation

It is possible to download the chapters of the saga (but not all) through the Steam platform. This is a service made available by the Valve company to be able to buy many video games on Windows, macOS and Linux. Steam allows you to purchase digital copies of your video game that you can always download at any time, through your library of purchased games.

You could also purchase and install your GTA chapters through the Rockstar Games site , which has the Social Club download or the discontinued Games for Windows client for the latest titles , but I don’t recommend that you follow this procedure. Instead, I recommend Steam because it offers you a much more advantageous service, also thanks to the discounts that you can often take advantage of to buy your games. In fact, for every occasion, for example the Christmas sales, the summer ones, Black Friday, Halloween and many recurring sales during the year, you can buy the chapters of GTA at really discounted prices, with reductions of up to 70%.

In order to download Steam, you will need to go to the official website and download the software that will manage the purchases, download and installation of the GTA chapters. You will find the Steam download button at the top right, green in color that says Install Steam . After clicking the button, you will be taken to a new page, where you will need to click the Install Steam Now button to start downloading Steam. You can also download the macOS and Linux version on this same page.

Once the installation file has been downloaded, double-click the SteamSetup.exe file and click the Yes button in the Windows User Account Control window. The installation procedure will open, on which you must first click on Next and then check the box to accept the license agreement. Then click Next and then Next again and then the Install button . Once the installation is complete, click the Finish button .

How to buy GTA on Steam

To search for a chapter of the GTA saga within Steam, you can use the search engine inside the software. Click on the Shop item , located in the horizontal bar at the top left and click on Highlights . On the right, you will see a search bar with the word Search in store . Click inside it and type the title of the chapter you want to buy, entering the word GTA or, even better, Grand Theft Auto , followed by the Enter key on your keyboard.

Before buying any game on Steam, I recommend that you always check these two parameters: the language and the system requirements. In the product sheet, the supported languages ​​are always indicated and which elements of the game they refer to. In fact, you will find a check mark on the elements that may be translated, such as the interface, audio and subtitles. Also, scrolling through the product sheet you will see the minimum and recommended requirements. If you don’t meet them, you will likely have a hard time running GTA on your computer. It is also important to check the supported platform. Computers with macOS may not be supported by all chapters of GTA.

How to install GTA via Steam
