You are a fan of GTA (Grand Theft Auto) and you have purchased the fifth chapter of the historic series by Rockstar Games, so that you can also try your hand at its online multiplayer mode, full of activities and missions to be carried out even with your friends. Since you need an avatar to play in this mode, you are wondering how to create a cool character in GTA 5 Online so that you can positively impress other players.

In today’s guide, in fact, I will explain how to create an avatar in the Online mode of GTA 5 and I will provide you with some suggestions in this regard, so as to create an “impact” avatar that reflects your aesthetic tastes.

How to create a character in GTA 5 Online
After playing the introductory mission mode history of GTA 5 , you can access the mode online . To do this, from the pause menu , select the Online tab and press the Play GTA Online item to create your virtual avatar.
If you have already started playing the online mode and want to create a new character, in the Online tab , choose the item Select character , to access the section for creating a new avatar to play with.
In the section relating to the characters in your account, you will be able to view both the one currently in use (if you have already started playing GTA Online) and the new one to customize. There are tons of aesthetic options available, which I’ll tell you about in the next chapters.
Gender of belonging and origin
The first fundamental parameters to select in order to be able to create a character in GTA Online are the genre of belonging and the origin . As for the first parameter, the only options are to be chosen between Man or Woman .
As for the origin , however, the system of choice depends on the genetic factors of the parents who are selected. What you need to do is choose both parents from the parent list, each of whom has distinctive facial features. In this way, you will be able to have 528 possible combinations of customization.
Other than that, you can vary the similarity and skin factors . After choosing the parents from which to draw the somatic traits, move the appropriate lever to the left or right, respectively to make these two parameters are closer to the traits of the mother or father.
Just to give you a few examples, some mothers like Hannah , Nicole or Sophia can be ideal for creating good-looking female characters (at least according to what are common canons in the world of video games); Nicole in particular is excellent for making young characters. Fathers like Alex , Ethan or John are, on the other hand, ideal for creating male characters with balanced features.
As for the skin parameter , however, the color of the complexion will have a shade in a range determined by the color of the skin of the mother and father. By moving the appropriate lever, it will be possible to have a greater resemblance to the color of the skin of one of the two parents.
Somatic traits
After having had a starting point by setting the parameters of gender of belonging and origin, as I explained to you in the previous chapter , it is time to see how to customize your avatar more by changing the facial features .
The facial features that can be changed in a GTA 5 Online avatar are the following: browbones , eyes , nose , nose profile , tip of the nose , cheekbones , cheeks , lips , jaw , chin profile and chin shape .
As for the eyebrow arches , there are 4 parameters available: inward , outward , up and down . keeping the special lever exactly in the center of the box, you will have a balance of all these parameters; on the other hand, by moving the lever anywhere in the box, you will obtain a change that makes one parameter stand out more than the others.
The exact same thing happens with the cheekbones and the profile of the chin . a similar edit box, on the other hand, is present in other somatic traits, such as the nose , which can be set to the parameters narrow , wide , up and down .
In general, there are always four modifying values on somatic traits: the nose profile ( short , long , convex and sunken ), tip of the nose ( left route , the right route , pointing up and pointing down ), jaw ( narrow , wide , rounded and square ) and chin shape ( square , pointed , rounded and dimple).
Only some parameters can only be chosen from a range of two values: eyes ( narrow and large ), cheeks ( thin and plump ) and, finally, lips ( thin and plump ). In general, the personalization changes on facial features are the ones that take the most time and, therefore, are the ones you should pay more attention to than the ones related to appearance , which I will talk about in the next chapter .
Appearance
Another section to look carefully is the one called Appearance : inside you can find eleven elements that you can customize, which mainly concern some details of the appearance of the avatar, the color of hair and eyes. Let’s analyze everything in detail.
The first element you can customize are the hair , choosing the cut and color from those available, and the beard (only for male characters). For example, if you want an urban cut, you can think about choosing the biker or hipster one .
You can also modify your brows , choosing their style , opacity and color . As for the skin imperfections parameter , you can choose, also setting the opacity , the type, such as pimples , acne , pustules , rashes and rashes , just to give you some examples.
Using the aging parameter , you can set the signs of aging on the avatar’s body, while the skin parameter allows you to set the degree of redness of the skin. As for moles and freckles and skin details , you can choose additional elements of personalization of the character’s skin.
Finally, you can select the eye color (eye color ) and the make-up to use on the avatar’s face by setting the eye make-up , blush and lipstick parameters . In the latter, you can not only set the color of the makeup , but also the degree of opacity .
Clothing
After customizing the physical appearance of the avatar, it’s time to see his clothing , through the appropriate section of the editor. You will not be able to customize every single garment to wear, but only choose a few sets of clothes. For more customization, you’ll need to purchase clothes from the various shops scattered across the San Andreas map.
First of all, you can choose the style of clothing: the latter is essential, so that you are offered clothes to select. In fact, based on the style chosen, in the dress option you can scroll through some garments that can be worn by your avatar.
For example, if you want a very casual style, you can select the street style , while for a more formal one, I recommend the elegant one . If, on the other hand, you want to give a more sporty style, wearing tracksuits or shorts, select the sporty one .
Finally, you can choose whether your avatar should wear a hat and glasses . In addition to these options, if you already have another avatar who is part of a crew , you can set the shirt that recalls the colors and logo.
Statistics
The last section you can customize is the one related to the avatar skills . All characters in GTA 5 Online are made up of 7 parameters: stamina , aim , strength , stealth , flight , driving and freediving . By default, the points are automatically distributed over all the parameters but, if you deem it appropriate, you can personally choose where to attribute them.
Generally speaking, by playing all the activities available in GTA 5 Online, you have the possibility to increase these parameters. Some are easier, like aiming or driving , others take longer, like stealth or flying .
Unfortunately it is not possible to upgrade a skill to the maximum from the beginning, but it is certainly possible to distribute them on those where you could have more difficulties. In any case, as I have already explained to you in the previous paragraph, playing all the activities will lead over time to maximize each skill, which will allow you to perform the corresponding action more easily.
When you have completed the entire avatar customization, all you have to do is go back to the main customization menu of the same and press on the Save and continue item , so as to save the changes made and start using the created avatar.
