At the end of January 2022, BQ introduced a new smartphone from the Clever budget line.

Against the background of competitors, the device stands out with a full version of Android 11, a Unisoc Tiger T310 processor and a classic design with wide frames around the display. What the BQ-5765L Clever is capable of and who it suits – let’s figure it out in our review.

Design and ergonomics

The BQ-5765L Clever plastic case is found in five colors at once: black, gray, red, gold and blue. We have a neutral, gray version on the review.

The design of the smartphone is classic, with wide bezels at the top and bottom of the display. On top is the front camera and earpiece.

The “chin” is empty, the system control keys are integrated into the graphical shell.

The volume rocker and the power/lock key are on the left side.

At the top is a microUSB port for charging and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The port layout is standard.

Below is a microphone.

The back cover received a textured coating. In the upper left corner is the main camera unit, below is a single flash. A little lower in the middle, the BQ brand logo was applied.

Above the multimedia speaker below is the smartphone line – Clever.

Unlike most modern devices, the back cover and battery are removable. There are also slots for two SIM and microSD.

The smartphone leaves a positive impression: it sits perfectly in the hand, does not slip, the side edges do not “dig into” the skin. The lid closes tightly and doesn’t leak.

Screen and image

The BQ-5765L Clever used an IPS matrix. The color reproduction is accurate, the maximum brightness margin is designed to work with a smartphone indoors, it will be difficult to see the information on a sunny day.

The diagonal is 5.7 inches. At a resolution of 1440 x 720, users get a comfortable pixel density of 282 ppi – the image is clear, without graininess.

There are no problems viewing YouTube or social media feeds.

Performance

BQ-5765L Clever became the first official smartphone on the Russian market with a Unisoc Tiger T310 processor. The chipset was released in 2019, uses a 12nm process and offers 4 cores divided into 2 clusters:

• The first includes 1 high-performance Cortex-A75 core with a maximum frequency of up to 2 GHz.
• The second one consists of 3 energy efficient Cortex-A55 cores.

The processor performance along with 3 GB of RAM is enough to run Call of Duty: Mobile and WoT Blitz at the minimum graphics settings. The smartphone copes with everyday tasks without problems. This applies to viewing feeds in social networks, surfing the web, working with GPS and GLONASS satellites.

Internet access provides support for 3G / LTE mobile networks and dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4 / 5 GHz). Wireless watches, headphones, gamepads are connected via Bluetooth 5.0.

Cameras and photos

The photo capabilities of the BQ-5765L Clever are at the budget level. The main 5 megapixel camera takes acceptable shots only with sufficient lighting. Its capabilities are enough to take rare shots or capture documents.

The 2MP front camera is designed for video calling. Selfies come out with low detail and noise.

Interface and Functions

In BQ-5765L Clever, the manufacturer decided to install a full version of Android 11 with a slightly redesigned interface. The processor power and 3 GB of RAM are enough for the shell to work without microfreezes.

Another controversial point is 16 GB of permanent memory. The operating system and pre-installed software occupy almost half of this volume. Partially the problem is solved by installing a memory card up to 128 GB.

The face unlock function with a selfie camera is responsible for protecting personal data. User recognition is fast. The NFC module is missing.

Autonomy and battery

The smartphone is powered by a 2700 mAh battery. With moderate use, the battery lasts for 1 business day. This applies to visiting the Internet, browsing, calls and other things. If you spend time in games, the phone will be discharged in 3 hours, charging takes the same amount.

Summing up

BQ-5765L Clever is a budget smartphone for undemanding users. The only tangible drawback for its price is 16 GB of permanent memory. A full-fledged OS compensates for the minuses, a processor that is not bad for the segment and the presence of a separate slot for a memory card.
