STALKER 2 won’t be an Xbox exclusive?

There has been a lot of buzz in the video game industry lately about store fees. And all this noise is mainly due to the ongoing battle between Epic Games and Apple. Apple and Epic Games are sorting things out in a US federal court, which is considering whether to restore the popular Fortnite game on the App Store. The case is part of a larger antitrust case that has the potential to change the way digital video game and app distribution services are rewarded. Epic Games Seeks Interim Court Order To Force Apple To Rebuild Fortnitein its App Store. Recall that the game Fortnite was removed from the App Store in the summer of 2020, for violating the terms of the store, as the developers offered to pay for purchases directly without Apple’s commission. Until now, the standard across the gaming industry has been that online digital distribution services for computer games receive a reward of 30% of sales. Video game developers got 70%. Many people did not like this, and they considered this state of affairs to be unfair. The Epic Games Store was the first to receive only 12% of revenue in order to attract more creators to its store. But it seems “the ice has broken”, as Microsoft also announced that they intend to keep only 12% of the income instead of the usual 30%.

So, recently, documents appeared on the network regarding this trial by Apple and Epic Games. Among them, very attentive gamers found interesting information about Microsoft and STALKER 2. They talked about reducing the commission in the stores. But the most unexpected and interesting thing was that the expected STALKER 2 game will have 3 months of exclusivity on Xbox consoles and a delayed release on PC. The date of the expected release is indicated – the 4th quarter of 2021. Then, after a while, the game may be released on the PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch. Recall that STALKER 2 is officially being created for the Xbox Series and PC.
