Do you have a PC with Windows installed and you want to understand how to transform a PDF into JPG? Yes? Very well, then I suggest you resort to using  PDFill PDF Tools. It is a free software that includes several tools to create, convert and edit PDF files. The program, of course, among its many functions integrates the one to convert PDF to JPG but also allows you to add watermarks to documents, to divide and merge document pages, to perform scans and much more.

To download PDFill PDF Tools on your computer, the first step you need to take is to click here in order to immediately connect to the program’s official website. Then click on the Download now button under the heading  Get this tool only and then press the Download button attached to the page that opens. Then wait for the download of the program to be started and completed, then open the installation package obtained.

At this point, click first on the Yes button and then on  Next. Then accept the conditions of use of PDFill PDF Tools by placing the checkmark next to the item  I accept the terms in the License Agreement and then click on  Next twice consecutively, on  Install and then on  Finish to complete the setup.

Keep in mind that during the setup procedure the GhostScript program may be downloaded from the Internet and installed automatically. Don’t worry, it’s not promotional software, a virus, or whatever other devilry. Instead, it is a free program that is used to interpret Adobe’s PostScript and PDF page description languages and without which PDFill PDF Tools cannot function properly. Another component required for PDFill PDF Tools to work that you may be asked to install is   Microsoft’s .Net Framework. If at the end of the setup you are told that this software is not present on your PC, click on the Download button and install this feature to fix it immediately.

At the end of the installation procedure, then wait for the main window of the program to appear on the desktop and then click on the  Convert PDF to images button to access the program function that allows you to transform the pages of PDF documents into JPEG photos. In the window that opens, select the PDF to convert, put the checkmark next to  JPG  and click on the Save as image button to indicate the folder in which to export the images. Easier than that?

If you want, you can also use the  Select page frame / To field to limit the conversion to a narrow range of pages and adjust the quality of the output images by entering a value from 0 to 100 in the JPG Quality field.

Turn PDF to JPG on OS X

If you use a Mac instead of a computer with Windows, I give you good news: to convert PDF files to JPG you don’t need to install any software. To convert PDF files to JPG you just need to use  Preview, the application included “standard” on all Apple computers that allows you to view images and make small changes.

To be able to transform a PDF into JPG on Mac just click twice on the file you want to act on, then click on the File item in the menu bar and select the Export… item.

Proceed by clicking on the menu located next to the Format item and choose the JPEG item from the available options. Then move the Quality slider to indicate in what quality you want the file to be saved (consider that a higher quality file takes up more space) and indicate the name you want to give the file by typing it in the Save as field. Now specify the location on your computer where you want the converted file to be saved and finally click the Save button.

Then wait a few moments and you will find your PDF file converted to JPG exactly in the location you previously specified.

Alternatively, you can create an app with  Automator, another software included in OS X that allows you to create scripts and small applications for Mac. Find more details on what to do in my guide on how to turn PDF to JPG on Mac.

How does Preview seem to you too, so to speak, “bland” and are you still looking for a tool that allows you to transform a PDF into JPG on Mac? If the answer is yes then you can rely on the versatility of PDF Toolkit +, a small app that performs almost all the operations that PDFill FREE PDF Tools can do on Windows (plus a few welcome extras) and is completely in Italian. Unfortunately, it is not free, it costs € 1.99, but I assure you that it is worth the money.

To use it, download it from the Mac App Store by clicking here, pressing the View button in the Mac App Store attached to the Web page that is shown to you, then clicking the button with the price attached to the Mac App Store screen that opened on OS X and typing your Apple ID password. Then wait for the app installation procedure to start and complete.

Then, start PDFill FREE PDF Tools, go to its Text / Images tab and drag the PDF to be converted to JPG into the box on the left.

At this point, decide whether to convert all the pages of the document into images or whether to extrapolate only the photos contained in the PDF as a separate JPG: in the first case you must select the JPEG option from the drop-down menu located at the bottom right and press on Convert button to select the folder in which to save the pages of the document, in the second you have to click on the Extract button located under the heading  Extract images. Easier than that?

Turn PDF to JPG online

If you don’t need to convert particularly large documents and/or don’t feel like installing new software on your computer, you can also opt for online solutions like iLovePDF, which is dedicated to converting and editing PDF files. Like SmallPDF, it does not require registration and automatically deletes files uploaded to its servers. It allows both converting and extracting images from PDFs and has an upload limit of 200MB.

To use it, click here in order to immediately connect to its home page and drag the PDF to convert into the browser window. Then choose whether to convert the pages to JPG or extract images from the PDF and press the Convert to JPG button to start the image processing.

At the end of the conversion procedure, wait a few moments after which the download of the document will automatically start. In case the download does not start, click on the Download JPG images button.

The service will also provide you with a link through which you can share the converted document with other users within a well-defined period of time. You will find the link to copy and paste where you feel most appropriate in the field located under the heading Copy and send this link for download.
