How to see the cameras of the city

“Who knows if today in Milan there are so many people in Piazza Duomo” … “Are the ski slopes of Courmayeur always crowded during the winter season?” … “Is the sea in the Maldives really as beautiful as everyone says?”. If you are asking yourself these questions, if you would like to explore the world but you do not have the possibility to do so, you will be happy to know that there is a solution to “travel” from one end of the Earth to the other while sitting comfortably in the armchair at home.

What am I referring to? Of course, the possibility of seeing the real-time footage of the “placed” webcams in all corners of the globe. How? Read on and you will find out. In the course of this guide, in fact, I will talk to you in detail about how to see the cameras of the city thanks to some websites, accessible from computers but also from smartphones and tablets (in some cases thanks to dedicated apps), which allow you to access for free to the filming of webcams scattered around the world.

EarthCam

One of the first websites that I recommend you use to see the cameras of the city is EarthCam: it is a great service that offers a glimpse of the world, thanks to the possibility of seeing the webcams of many cities. It is accessible from computers, but also from smartphones and tablets, through any browser for browsing the Internet. It is also available as a free app for Android and iOS.

If you want to use it to see the cameras of your city or another city of your interest, connect to its official website, scroll to its main page and locate the webcam of the city you are interested in seeing.

If you prefer, type the name of the city you have in mind in the text field at the top and press the Search button to start the search. Alternatively, you can identify a specific city by referring to the planisphere that you can find at the bottom of the page, corresponding to the word webcam of World.

Once you have chosen the direct to watch, click on its preview image to start playing it. When live is started, you can manage the multimedia player by adjusting the volume of the environment through the speaker icon, or you can put the video in full screen by pressing the arrows icon.

Webviewcams

Another website that I recommend you bookmark on your browser is  Webviewcams. I have chosen to recommend it as it is quite simple to use and, moreover, it is characterized by the possibility of adjusting the framing of the camera that shows the live broadcast.

You can use this portal from a computer, but also from smartphones and tablets, using any browser to browse the Internet. To start, then connect to its official website and refer to the preview images you see on the main page to identify the city you are interested in “visiting”.

If you want to speed up the search for cities, refer to the text field at the top, to type the name of a specific location, and then confirm the operation by pressing the Search button. Alternatively, you can use the world map located next to Control cameras all over the world to select the city of your interest.

Once you have located the webcam you want to see, click on its preview image to select it and watch the live stream. At this point, if you want to control the camera, use the side sticks to adjust the angle and zoom.

Skyline webcams

Another excellent Internet site that allows you to see the cameras of cities all over the world is certainly the Skyline webcams site which is characterized by the presence of high-resolution images, as well as a user interface also available in Italian.

It can be used both from computers and from smartphones and tablets. To use it, connect to its official website via any browser to browse the Internet, then click on the flag at the top and select the Italian flag , to translate the site interface into Italian.

At this point, start browsing its home page to locate the webcam of the city you are interested in seeing. Alternatively, use the Live webcam, webcam by category and Top webcam menus to find the city of interest more quickly.

Now, to start playing a live, click on the preview image of the camera of your interest and press the play button, in case the live does not start automatically.

A very interesting feature of this site is the ability to see the weather forecast of the city you are watching, as well as a time-lapse video: to perform these operations, click, respectively, on the weather and time-lapse buttons available on the playing the video.

How to find other free webcams

In case you want to surf the Internet independently to find other free webcams, you will be happy to know that just do a search on Google (but also on any other search engine ).

To make this work when you’re connected to the home page of Google, type the terms inurl: / view.shtml or intitle: “Live View / – AXIS” inurl: view / view.shtml ^ in the text field dedicated to research and presses the Search with Google button, or press the Enter key on the keyboard.

By doing this, all public webcams that broadcast live will be shown in the search results. To access it, you just need to click on one of the links provided.

App to see the cameras of your city

• Landwebcams ( iOS ) – this paid application (€ 6.99) for iOS allows you to see the cameras of cities around the world and is characterized by the presence of webcams positioned in correspondence with breathtaking landscapes such as mountains, hills, lakes and oceans.
