Preliminary information

Before we get to the heart of this tutorial and explain how to turn off Apple Watch power saving , let me give you some preliminary information in this regard.

First of all, you must know that the energy saving mode of the famous Apple smartwatch is called Low consumption and can be activated manually as needed, when it is necessary to extend the battery life and it is not possible to recharge the watch.

In fact, when Low Power is on, Apple Watch and iPhone stop communicating with each other and, to minimize battery consumption, no watch functions can be accessed. However, by pressing the Apple Watch side button , you can still view the time.

To activate Low consumption manually, simply call up the Apple Watch Control Center , swipe from bottom to top on the watch screen, press on the battery percentage , drag the Low consumption button to the right and press on the item OK pop-up on the screen.

Alternatively, you can also activate Low Power mode by pressing on the Digital Crown , selecting the Settings option and accessing the Battery section . Once this is done, drag the Low consumption button to the right and press the OK option .

Also, you should know that when the Apple Watch battery percentage drops below 10% , it will be the watch itself that will suggest you to activate the power saving and you can choose whether or not to activate this mode. When the battery is too low , however, Apple Watch automatically enters Low Power mode and you will see a red lightning bolt icon next to the time. Is everything clear so far? Well, then let’s take action.

How to remove the energy saver from the Apple Watch

If you have manually activated the Low consumption mode, you can remove the power saving from the Apple Watch at any time and resume using it in all its functions, bearing in mind that the energy consumption will be higher and that, if the battery level drops to a percentage too low, the Low power option will reactivate automatically.

That said, all you need to do to turn off Apple Watch’s power saver is to hold down the watch side button (the same one you use to turn off Apple Watch ) until the Apple logo appears on the device screen (it should take all of them about ten seconds). Wait a few moments for your watch to restart and pair with your iPhone again, so you can take advantage of all the features available.

As mentioned in the opening lines of this tutorial, Apple Watch’s Low Power Mode automatically activates if the battery is too low . In this case, it is not possible to deactivate the energy saving and the only solution is to charge the watch.

If this is the case for you and you have not been able to turn off the power saver, take your Apple Watch and rest it on the magnetic charging cable that came with the watch, making sure that it is connected to its power supply and, in turn, to a power outlet (or a USB port on your computer). In that regard, my guide on how to charge Apple Watch may be useful .

As soon as the Apple Watch reaches a sufficient charge level, Low Power mode should automatically turn off. If not, all you have to do is restart the Apple Watch , as I indicated above to manually disable the power saving.

How to manage Apple Watch’s Always On mode

Always On mode , also known as Always On , is a feature introduced on Apple Watch 5 and later models (not available on Apple Watch SE), which displays the time and other useful information even when the arm is down.

Put simply, as you can also guess from the name, this mode (which is active by default) allows you to have the Apple Watch screen always active. However, as this is a low power consumption feature , the display brightness is automatically dimmed when the arm is down or when the screen is covered with a quick wave of the hand.

Furthermore, some complications (eg Compass and Noise) are automatically disabled, while others (eg Calendar, Weather and third-party apps) are updated once a minute or when necessary to ensure low consumption.

That said, if you have deactivated the Always On mode to increase the battery life of Apple Watch and, now, you would like to reactivate it (or vice versa), all you have to do is press on the Digital Crown , select the Settings option and access the Display section and brightness . Then press on the item Always active and, in the new screen displayed, move the lever relating to the item Always active to OFF or ON , according to your preferences.

I point out that you can also do all this from your iPhone. In this case, start the Watch app, press the Screen and brightness item , tap the Always active option and move the lever next to the Always active option to OFF or ON , depending on your preferences. To learn more, you can check out my guide on how Apple Watch works .

In case of problems

If you have followed the instructions I gave you in the previous paragraphs of this guide in detail, you should have been able to deactivate the energy saving on your Apple Watch, even if the Low Power mode is activated automatically.

If this is not the case and your watch does not seem to show any signs of life, it may be necessary to recharge the Apple Watch : after putting the watch in charge, if it is still off but is charging correctly, you should see the icon of a lightning green on the screen of the device and, within a few minutes, the watch should turn on automatically.

If, on the other hand, you see a red lightning bolt icon even when the Apple Watch is charging, wait about 30 minutes and check again if the icon has turned green. Once this is done, try to access the device (in this regard, my guide on how to turn on Apple Watch might be useful ), wait for the automatic connection with your iPhone and check that everything is working.

How do you say? Even in doing so, you were not able to solve? In that case, I recommend that you get in direct contact with Apple Customer Service . To do this, pick up your phone, dial the toll-free number 800.915.904 and initiate the call. After listening to the welcome message, answer the questions of the recorded voice verbally, in order to verify your identity and indicate the product for which you are requesting support, and wait for your call to be taken over by a meat Apple employee and bones.

Alternatively, connected to Apple’s official website , select the Apple Watch option and, on the What’s wrong with your Apple Watch screen , press on Battery, power and charging . Once this is done, choose one of the solutions that are proposed to you by the online assistance, such as chat with an operator , book a call , make an appointment in the store, etc.

Similarly, you can also proceed using the Apple Support app for iPhone and iPad. To find out more, I leave you to my guide on how to contact Apple .
