How to build a cabinet in Minecraft
If you want to know how to build a cabinet in Minecraft, in the next chapters of this tutorial I will show you how to make this project using the objects already available in the game. In detail, I’ll tell you how to build a chest and armor stand, which will allow you to store items and armor.
Building a chest
To build a chest in Minecraft, what you need to do is recover the essential resources to craft this item. First, you need to get some wooden planks: these materials can be obtained from trees by interacting on them with an ax or simply with your bare hands.
By doing so, you will get the Wood Logs, the main resource of the trees, which you can transform into Wood Planks: to do this, in a workbench or within the Manufacturing section of the inventory, insert the Wood Logs in the ‘special slot.
At this point, on the workbench, place 8 units of Wooden Planks, taking care to leave the central slot free. Now, in the right section, collect 1 unit of Chest, which you will need to equip in a quick slot to place it on the ground or in any other block.
The chest you created has a total of 27 slots, but it can be upgraded by placing another one on either side of the chest. By doing this, you will get a Large Chest that will have double the capacity, i.e. 54 slots.
Although a trunk is not the same thing as a wardrobe, know that you can try to make a wardrobe, following the same directions that I gave you in my tutorial on making a warehouse in Minecraft. In the latter, although made up of trunks, you can also think about adding armor supports, like the ones I’ll tell you about in the next chapter.
Building an armor stand
An Armor Stand is a pedestal on which you can store the parts of the armor that you are not using. This item does not have a slot UI, as we have seen for the chest. Therefore you can use it to expose the armor.
To craft an Armor Stand, you need two resources: the Staff and the Polished Stone Slab. To get the Staff, place 2 units of Wooden Planks on a workbench (which can be obtained from the wooden trunks of trees).
For the polished stone slab, on the other hand, you must first get some blocks of stone, which you can easily get from the underground: it is the material of which the world of Minecraft is mainly made. Once this is done, you must work these blocks in a furnace, in order to obtain blocks of Polished Stone.
Now, to get the slabs of these polished blocks, you have two ways to go: using a Workbench or a Stonecutter. As for the workbench, insert 3 units of Polished Stone in it to obtain 6 units of Polished Stone slab.
If you prefer to use a Stonecutter, you must first craft one in a workbench, using 3 units of Stone Blocks and 1 unit of Iron Ingot. Once you have the Stonecutter, place the Polished Stone in its only free slot on the interface and click on the Polished Stone Slab blueprint, found in the section in the center. By doing so, you will be able to collect the 2 Polished Stone Slab units from the slot on the right.
At this point, you have everything you need to build an Armor Stand. Therefore, in a workbench, add 6 units of Staff and 1 unit of Polished Stone Slab, to obtain 1 unit of Armor Support.
At this point, after placing the newly crafted item on the ground, move the armor parts into the quick slots and then, after equipping them, interact on the Armor Stand, in order to transfer them onto it. To collect the armor, all you have to do is interact on the piece you want to get, in order to remove it from the holder and transfer it to the quick slot.
Mod to build a cabinet on Minecraft
Do you want to build a cabinet in Minecraft quickly? In this case, there are mods, such as MrCrayfish’s Furniture Mod, which allow you to add furniture, including bedside tables and generic furniture, to the shelter with extreme simplicity.
In order to use this mod, first you need to install Minecraft Forge: it is an add-on that allows you to manage mods on Minecraft. To get it, head to its official website and pick up the version that is compatible with both the Minecraft client and the mod itself. To do this, click on the Installer button.
After downloading the Forge .JAR file, double-click on it and press the OK button to complete the component installation. If you want to know more about how to install Minecraft Forge, I suggest you consult my guide dedicated to the subject.
With that done, it’s time to download MrCrayfish’s Furniture Mod on Minecraft. To do this, go to the developer’s official website and press the Downloads button, to view all versions compatible with Minecraft. Then click on the one compatible with both the Minecraft client and the Minecraft Forge, and the .JAR file of the mod will be started.
Arrived at this point, get to the install directory of Minecraft: is located in the path C:\Users\[nome utente]\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft of Windows and ~/Library/Application Support/minecraft on Mac OS.
Now, open the mods folder and place the .JAR file of the mod you just downloaded inside it. If you do not find the aforementioned folder, you can also create it manually, following the advice I have given you in this guide.
Well: we’re almost there! Run Minecraft, via its quick start icon, and press the ▼ button next to the Play button. At this point, select the Forge profile and then click the Play button, to start the game with mod support.
By starting a world in Creative mode and opening the avatar inventory, you will be able to view the tab for the MrCrayfish’s Furniture mod. By selecting the correct filter, such as Storage, you can quickly build a wardrobe using Furniture, or you can add Nightstands. Happy?
