Preliminary information

Before going into the details of the procedure on how to get the icons on FIFA Career , I think it may interest you to know more about this possibility.

Well, the FIFA Career mode allows, by default, to use only “canonical” players , ie those belonging to the teams of the various leagues. In fact, the so-called icons , or the glories of the past, from Maradona to Maldini , are a sort of exclusive linked to the Ultimate Team mode of the game, which takes place online.

The Career mode is instead the classic one, in which you choose a “canonical” team, for example Milan, and try to bring it to the top of the league table, whether you choose to lead the team as a coach or choose to captain it with a single player.

In any case, as you have probably already guessed, by choosing a “canonical” team you cannot have the icons available. However, there is a simple “trick” that, when applied, allows you to use the glories of the past in the Career mode of FIFA .

In the following chapters you will find all the indications to achieve this goal. I will be using a PS4 , but the steps below also apply to other consoles and PCs.

How to download the rose update

The first thing to do to get the icons in FIFA Career Mode is to upgrade the squads . In fact, developers usually add usable teams in Kick-Off mode this way.

For example, on FIFA 20 the team called Soccer Aid was implemented with this method , which in its squad includes icons of the caliber of Maradona , Maldini and Cannavaro . In short, to have the glories of the past in the Career mode, it is first necessary to find a team that contains them in that Kick-off.

Of course, the teams available vary from chapter to chapter , but if you have FIFA 20 you already know you can count on Soccer Aid . To get the latter, just start the game, go to the CUSTOMIZE tab , press the X button on the controller on the EDIT TEAMS box and select the DOWNLOAD UPDATES item .

Then, press the X button of the pad first on the Yes item and then on the Next item , in order to finish the update . For more details, I recommend that you check out my tutorial on how to update squads in FIFA .

To check the teams added by the update, you usually just need to start a Classic Match via Kick-Off mode , select the Rest of the World league as the league and see which teams are available.

On FIFA 20 , for example, you will find the aforementioned Soccer Aid team , which contains several icons in its roster.

How to get the icons on FIFA Manager Career

After what was explained in the previous chapter , you are probably wondering how to unlock icons in FIFA 20 Career . In fact, so far I have focused on how to upgrade the squads and get the team with the glories of the past in Kick-Off mode.

As you well know, a team added via update is not selectable in Career mode, as it does not really exist and therefore without a league in which to compete. This means that, in FIFA 20, Soccer Aid cannot be used directly in Career mode .

However, here an interesting “trick” comes into play: move the icons of the Soccer Aid team to a “canonical” team , for example Milan , and select the latter to start the Career , finding all the glories of the past already in the squad .

To proceed, just go, starting from the main menu of the game, in the path CUSTOMIZE> EDIT TEAMS> CLUB TRANSFERS . Then, select any team (eg Milan ), press the triangle button on the controller and select the item Search by name , in order to activate the search bar .

Here you need to know the names of the icons you want to move from one team to another. For example, on FIFA 20 you can search for Maradona , Maldini and Cannavaro , just to name a few interesting icons. Once the search is done , you will see the player belonging to the Soccer Aid team appear on the screen .

So, just press the X button of the pad on it, select the team with which you want to start the Career (eg Milan) and press the X button on the controller again to make the transfer . Perfect, now the icon you have chosen is part of a “canonical” team .

Obviously, you can do this as many times as you want, by transferring all the available icons a bit . The only thing you need to take into consideration is the fact that you can’t access the Soccer Aid team directly, but you have to manually search for each of its individual players to be able to transfer them.

In any case, using this method, in a short time you will have your team of icons at your disposal . To use it in Career mode , simply start a new game and select the team you have transferred your past glories to. For example, if you have transferred Maradona to Milan , you must choose the latter team for your Career.

Once a season has started , you will find the icons you have transferred directly to the Squad , more precisely in the Reserves section . You just need to put them in the field to use them.

Perfect, now you know everything there is to know about the ability to use icons in FIFA’s Career mode .
