How to fix “The Hosted Network Couldn’t Be Started” on Windows
If you see the message “Host network is not started” on your screen, you probably have an error while editing the WiFi hotspot from the command line. The problem is most likely related to your WiFi network adapter. This article describes how to fix this problem.
Enable the Microsoft Hosted Network Appliance Adapter
- Press Win + X at the same time for quick access to the menu.
- Find “Device Manager”.
- Click View and check Show Hidden Devices.
- Find and then open the Network Adapters dialog.
- Go to Microsoft Hosted Network Virtual Adapter and enable it.
- Now check if the problem is fixed.
Diagnose your network adapter
- As described in the previous method, open a dispatcher.
- Next, the “Network Devices” tab.
- Next, click on your wireless router to open Properties.
- Look at the panel for regulating the power supply.
- Check access to disable this device to save power and click “OK” to save the settings.
Update your WiFi driver
- In the manager, click on your router.

- Click “Search” automatically for updated driver software.
- Microsoft will now automatically detect the update for you.
