How to fix deleted recovery / boot partition problem in Windows 10

When you encounter problems with your Windows 10 PC, you usually use an operating system restore. Responsible for it is a piece of memory on the hard disk used to “rollback” to the factory settings. If you deleted a volume as a result of inaccurate actions, then you will have to restore it first. In this article, we will describe how to do this.

Restoring Boot Configuration Data

Running the BCD (Boot Configuration Data) command on the command line will fix the problem:

  • Start your PC using Windows 10 installation media.
  • Hold Shift + F10 and launch Command Prompt.
  • Enter the “bootrec / fixmbr” command, in a damaged situation press Enterbootrec fixmbr command.
  • Now print two lines:
  1. “Bootrec / fixboot”
  2. “Bootrec / rebuildbcd”
  • Reboot your computer.

If you get an “Element not found” error when you run the first command, you will have to mark the corresponding volume as active. So, on the command line, enter the following:

diskpart select disk 0 list partition select partition #

Now select “System Reserved” or Windows OS partition and mark it as active. To do this, simply enter “active” in the CMD after selecting a section.
