Now that I’ve told you more about custom material for The Sims and the risks involved in installing it, you’re ready to learn how to activate them. Let’s start, therefore, with the most recent version of The Sims for computer, seeing how to download customized content for The Sims 4 .

Where to download custom content for The Sims 4

All the custom material that you can install in your copy of The Sims 4 is freely available on the Net. There are many different sources of content, since anyone who can create them can make them available on the Web.

But be careful: for this very reason, I do not recommend relying on the sites you find around, otherwise you risk downloading harmful material for your device. Try to contact only the reference sites of this world, which can be considered as generally safe.

As an alternative to the sites above, I invite you to follow content creators at their blogs and Tumblr accounts . To find personalized content on this social platform, widely used by The Sims modders, connected to the main Tumblr page , click on the search bar at the top and type “the Sims 4 custom content” , to view all posted content on the platform.

The good news is that the installation procedures for these three package categories don’t differ much. As you will see, it is enough to proceed with a proper archiving to install them properly.

Therefore, start the installation procedure by opening the downloaded CC file with your decompression program : inside you will find one or more files in .package format , or in .ts4script, .bpi, .blueprint or .trayitem formats . In addition to these formats, within the packages you will be able to find text files .txt or images : these are all negligible, as they contain only additional information from the creator.

Now, keep the package with the customized content open and in the meantime go to the mod folder of The Sims 4. To find the path in question, click on the Windows Start button (the flag icon located in the lower left corner screen) and enter the term “documents” in the search bar .

Select, therefore, the icon of the Documents folder present in the search results and, inside it, find the folder called Electronic Arts . Now go into The Sims 4 folder and finally into the Mods folder .

Then proceed by clicking on the package icon you left open in the taskbar (the one at the bottom which also contains the Start button) and select the contents with .package format , and then drag them to the Mods folder . At this point, the installation procedure can be said to be complete!

If, on the other hand, your customized content package does not contain .package files, but .bpi , trayitem and .blueprint files , you must transfer the latter to the Tray folder , which can always be found in the The Sims 4 folder .

What to do with .ts4script files instead ? This format contains mods that introduce or modify game mechanics, such as that of careers, animations and interactions: therefore, they modify the behavior of the game.

The installation of the scripts takes place in the same way seen for the .package files, ie they must be moved to the Mods folder , with the only difference being that they must be enabled separately. But I’ll tell you about this in the next chapter of the guide .

Enable custom content in The Sims 4

If you have reached this point in the tutorial, I will reveal to you that you have already passed the most difficult part of the procedure. Why am I telling you this? The answer is that custom content is already supported by your copy of The Sims 4 PC and only needs to be enabled from the options menu.

To proceed, simply start the game and access the Game Options . From this menu, you will need to look for the Activate custom content and mods item in the More menu . If you want to activate the scripts as well, check the Mods box of the allowed script , then click on the Apply changes button .

Turn off custom content in The Sims 4

In the unfortunate event that you run into corrupted custom content that can make your The Sims 4 unplayable or unstable, or if you just want to revert to the original version of The Sims without any custom content, here’s what you need to do.

First of all, try to disable the contents exactly as you enabled them, that is by acting in the menu with the options of the game: look for, in the latter, the item Activate custom content and mods and click on the box next to it, to remove check it. Once this is done, remember to restart the game and check that the contents have been disabled.

How to download custom stuff The Sims 4 PS4
