The success achieved by The Escapists led the game developers to make other chapters of the video game. Before getting to the heart of this tutorial, therefore, let’s start with a brief summary of the chapters of The Escapists available.

• The Escapists: is the first chapter published in February 2015. It is available for Windows PC and macOS, but also for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and for Android and iOS mobile devices.
• The Escapists 2: is the sequel to The Escapists, enriched with new challenges and also available for Nintendo Switch with the multiplayer function. It was released on August 22, 2017.

You must also know that there is also  The Escapists: The Walking Dead , a special version of the first chapter in which the gameplay of The Escapists is combined with the plot of the famous comic and TV series “The Walking Dead”: the prison and the cells are replaced by some places that fans of “The Walking Dead” will not struggle to recognize, such as Hershel Greene’s farm, the prison, Woodbury and Alexandria.

If in The Escapists the goal is to escape from the penitentiary, in The Escapists: The Walking Dead the protagonist is Sheriff Rick Grimes who aims to escape the zombies and guide all his fellow adventurers to survival.

How to download The Escapists on computer

Minimum and recommended requirements

Before purchasing The Escapists, you need to know what the minimum requirements are  needed to run the game on a computer, so that you can make a comparison with the software and hardware specifications of your PC.

The Escapists 2 (which at the time of writing is the latest version of the game) is compatible with Windows PC, Mac and Linux / SteamOS computers with the following minimum requirements.

• Operating system: Windows 7, macOS 10.10, SteamOS;
• Processor:Intel Core Duo E6600 2.4GHz; Intel Core i5 2.7Ghz on Mac and Intel Core i5 3.3Ghz on SteamOS;
• Memory: 2 GB, on Mac 2 GB and on SteamOS 4GB;
• Video card: Intel 4400, GeForce GT 8800, AMD Radeon HD 4650 (on Mac Nvidia GT 640M, AMD Radeon HD 5750, Intel HD Graphics 6100);
• DirectX (Windows only): Version 11;
• Free disk space: 4 GB.

For the best gaming experience, your computer should have the following  recommended requirements .

• Operating system: Windows 7, macOS 10.10, SteamOS;
• Processor:i5-2500k 3.3GHz, AMD FX 6300 3.5GHz, Intel Core i5 2.7Ghz on Mac and Intel Core i5 3.3Ghz on SteamOS;
• Memory: 4 GB (on Mac 2 GB);
• Video card: GeForce GTX 750, AMD R7 370;
• DirectX (Windows only): Version 11;
• Free disk space: 4 GB.

Download and install Steam

As already mentioned above, to buy The Escapists you can rely on Steam , which at the moment represents the simplest and most immediate solution of all. Then connect to the site of the platform developed by Valve , press the Install Steam button at the top right and click on the item Install Steam now to download the official client of the service, which is available for free for Windows, macOS and Linux.

Once the download is complete, if you have a Windows PC , double-click the SteamSetup.exe file and press the Next button . Then put the check mark next to the item I accept the license agreement and press Next again . Now, select the Italian language , press the Next and Install buttons and wait for the installation to complete, then click the Finish button to start downloading the update files necessary for Steam to work.

If you are using a Mac , open the dmg package  downloaded from the Steam site, click the Agree button and drag the Steam icon to the MacOS Applications folder . Then open the Applications folder , start Steam by double clicking on its icon and, automatically, the download of the updates necessary for the operation of the software will start.

Once the software installation is complete, a window will open: press the  Create a new account button  to create a free account, which is necessary to make your purchases and start the games in your Steam library.

Now, enter your details in the Steam name , password and email address fields , then type the characters displayed on the screen in the Enter characters field , put the check mark required to declare you are at least 13 years old and click on the Next button .

Download and install The Escapists

To download and install The Escapists , start Steam in online mode, enter your login details in the Account Name and Password fields , place the check mark next to the item Remember my password not to log in again and click on the Login button .

Now, make sure you are in the Shop section , type  The Escapists in the Search shop field and click on the magnifying glass icon to start the search. In the results of your search, find the title you intend to buy between  The Escapists (14.99 euros),  The Escapists 2 (19.99 euros) and  The Escapists: The Walking Dead (14.99 euros).

Having made your choice, click on the title of the game you want to buy to access its descriptive card, press the Add to cart button , then press the Purchase button for me and, in the drop-down menu Choose a payment method , select a method of payment valid between PayPal , credit card ( Visa , Mastercard , American Express , JBC ), Skrill and Paysafecard , enter the data and press the Continue button to confirm the purchase.

Once your purchase is complete, you can view the game in your Steam library and start downloading and installing it. Then press the Library item at the top, select  The Escapists in the left sidebar and click the Install button . If you wish, put the check mark next to the items Create a shortcut on the desktop  and  Create a shortcut in the Start menu to create quick links to the game and click on the items  Next  and  Agree  to start the download.

Now, all you have to do is wait for the download to complete: you can monitor the download speed and the downloaded data by pressing the In download item at the bottom, while to pause and resume the download you can press the Pause and Resume buttons . Once the download is complete, presses again on the Library item , select  The Escapists  and click on the Play button to start the video game.

How to download The Escapists on smartphones and tablets

The Escapists is also available for mobile devices by downloading the application for Android  (version 2.3 and later) and iOS  (version 8 and later) devices . At the time of writing, only the first chapter of the series is available on smartphones and tablets.

If you have a smartphone or tablet  Android , simply tap on the  Play Store  (the symbol ▶ ︎ colored), type “The Escapists” in the top search engine and presses the button  Search . Then press the The Escapists  icon and tap the [price] buttons   (it should be € 3.99) and  Accept  to start the download and installation of the game. Once the procedure is complete, press the Open button to start the game or access the home screen of your device to view the newly purchased app.

If, on the other hand, you have an iPhone / iPad the cost of The Escapists is 4.99 euros. To buy the game, tap on the App Store icon (the  white “A” on a blue background ) on the home screen of your device, press the Search item at the bottom, type  ” The Escapists” in the Search field located in up and press the Search button . Now, locate  The Escapists in the search results and tap on its icon to access the description card and read details, reviews and much more.

To proceed with the purchase, tap the [price]  and  Buy buttons  , then confirm your intention via the Apple ID password, Touch ID or Face ID and tap the Buy button to start the download. Once the download is complete, press the Open button and start playing.

How to download The Escapists on console

If you prefer to play on consoles, you should know that The Escapists is also available on PlayStation 4  and  Xbox One at a cost of € 17.99, while The Escapists 2 is also available for Nintendo Switch at a price of € 19.99. The procedure for purchasing and downloading the game varies from console to console, but the steps to follow are almost identical for all game systems.

To download The Escapists on your console, first make sure that the Internet connection is active via an Ethernet cable or a Wi-Fi network, then start the store and log in to your account (if you have Xbox you can read my tutorial of in-depth study ). Now, find  The Escapists in the store using the Search function and add it to the cart , then follow the purchase procedure shown on the screen by entering a valid payment method and start the game download. Wait a few minutes for the download to complete and The Escapists will be available on your console’s home screen.

Let’s take a practical example: if you have a PlayStation 4, access the Settings by pressing the toolbox icon , then press the Network and Configure Internet connection items and choose the type of connection between Use Wi-Fi and Use a network cable ( LAN) . Now, go to the Settings> Account Management> Login to PlayStation Network menu and enter your login details in the Login ID and Password fields , while if you do not have an account yet, press the New PlayStation Network user? Create an account and press the Sign up now option to create one.
