Preliminary information
Before going into the details of the procedure on how to disable upday, I think it may interest you to know more about this application.
Well, you should know that upday is a news aggregation service that usually comes pre-installed on Samsung devices. In other words, we can say that it is a sort of Google News, which however is designed to integrate better with the personalization of the South Korean manufacturer.
To give you a concrete example, upday is often integrated into a panel called Bixby Home, which can be found by swiping from left to right on the main screen of the device. Here the user can find all the updated news, thanks to upday, and many other settings allowed by the Samsung assistant.
We are talking, therefore, of an application/service that does not create any kind of problem, since it is pre-installed by Samsung and is completely free. However, it has no icon (it is not in the app drawer) and, at times, it can send unwanted notifications, so I can understand that you want to deactivate it and I am ready to explain how.
How to disable upday on Samsung
After explaining what it is, I’d say it’s time to take action and see how to disable upday.
Samsung smartphones often do not allow you to completely uninstall upday, since it is a feature implemented in Bixby Home and not a real application. In other cases, upday is instead a system application, so it cannot be removed (except with advanced systems , which, however, I do not recommend using for these situations).
If you really don’t want to see upday anymore, you can just deactivate it. Then go to the Bixby Home page (the one on the left when you turn on the device), press on the icon of the three dots present at the top right and press on Cards.
Then, select upday and toggle the must-see upday NEWS, upday NEWS and upday Top Soccer options to OFF. You will see that, returning to Bixby Home, all the tabs related to the news aggregation service will be gone.
If you are not interested in using the Bixby Home screen, that is the one accessible by swiping from left to right starting from the main screen of the device, then you might think about disabling this feature.
To do this, make a long tap on an empty area of the device’s home screen and swipe from left to right . At this point, you should have reached the Bixby Home / upday screen: all you have to do is move the lever at the top right to OFF and you’re done.
If you have a smartphone in which upday is a system application, you must go to the Settings> Applications> upday (or similar) menu and first press on Disable and then on Disable application.
Great, now you should no longer see upday and consequently no longer have to deal with the service.
How to disable upday notifications
How do you say? Every so often upday sends you notifications related to the latest news and would you like to deactivate them? No problem, I’ll tell you how to do it right away. Here the procedure may change depending on the device in your possession.
If you have a Samsung device in which upday is integrated into Bixby Home, just press on one of the news on the dedicated page, go to the main upday screen, press on the three dots icon located at the top right and do tap on the item My profile in the menu that appears.
Subsequently, presses on Notifications and move the levers linked to the Breaking News, Custom Notifications and Saved Articles options to OFF. Perfect, from now on you should no longer be receiving notifications from upday.
If your device has upday as an app in its own right, just go to the Settings menu > Applications> upday> ADVANCED> Show system applications (or similar) and move the lever linked to notifications to OFF.
Clearly, there are various models of Samsung devices and I cannot therefore be more precise with my directions, but you shouldn’t have too much trouble finding all the options.
How to uninstall upday
If you have upday as a standalone application, it has probably been installed through the usual digital stores, namely Samsung’s Galaxy Store or Google’s Play Store, and therefore can be uninstalled without too much trouble.
In this specific case, you simply have to hold down on the upday icon and select in succession the Uninstall and OK items from the menus that appear. You could also think about uninstalling the application by going to the Galaxy Store or the Play Store.
Once the reference store is open, usually you just need to search for ” upday ” inside it, press on the app icon (a small white “u” on a blue background) and select the Uninstall option. For more information, I recommend that you check out my tutorial on how to uninstall upday.
