Preliminary information

Before getting to the heart of the tutorial, going to explain how to delete all Direct from Instagram, there is some preliminary information about it that I have to provide you.

Let’s start from a fundamental assumption: the removal, in bulk, of all private conversations from Instagram is not feasible, or at least at the time of writing this guide, no function proposed for this purpose appears to be available. However, you can remove individual conversations, selecting them one at a time, until you completely clear the Instagram section dedicated to Direct or in any case going to delete the various conversations you want to get rid of.

However, please note that deleting conversations in full is unambivalent and does not allow you to remove chats entirely. This, to be more precise, means that the cancellation is valid only for the account of the user carrying out the removal. The other users involved, in fact, will not see the conversations disappear and will be able to continue viewing the messages received and sent without problems.

However, the situation is different for the individual messages contained within a conversation: in this case, it is possible to delete all the messages sent in one go. The messages received, on the other hand, cannot be removed, either individually or in groups.

In this second case, moreover, the cancellation by the sender involves the effective and definitive removal also for the other accounts involved in the Direct. However, it should be considered that the people to whom the canceled Direct was sent may have already seen it.
