Where to find Cliff on Pokémon GO

Cliff can be dealt with at any point in the game, but he needs a special tool to be found. I’m talking about the Radar Rocket , which will help you locate all the Pokéstops , within which the leaders of the evil Team present in the game developed by Niantic are present.

To find Cliff, all you have to do is fight and defeat 6 Team Rocket recruits , which can be found both on Team Rocket’s balloons, which appear occasionally, and in Pokéstops , whose ball vibrates and is tending to black.

Each rookie, once defeated, will give you access to a Mystery Component . Once you have found 6 Components, you will be prompted to assemble them. So, all you have to do is press the Assemble Components button in the menu that will appear on the screen.

Once assembled, you will have the Rocket Radar available in the Backpack : activate it and you will be able to see the secret hiding places of Team Rocket, within which the leaders of the group, including Cliff, could hide.

In some Special Researches you will be asked to face Team Rocket leaders in certain mission steps. In particular, these are the missions related to Team Rocket: “Threats in the Dark” and “An Interesting New” .

Mission “Threats in the Dark”

The Threats in the Dark mission is divided into 6 main steps and gives access to the final battle against Giovanni , the leader of Team Rocket. One step of this mission requires Cliff’s own defeat, so following her will guide you into battle with this trainer.

First, open the menu at the bottom right, marked with an orange telescope icon . Then tap on the Special button and scroll until you find this Special Search.

The first objective is to spin 10 Pokéstop discs and, above all, to defeat 3 Team Rocket recruits . They will be the ones to give you the Mysterious Components for assembling the radars, so it is very important to complete this step. He then captures a Shadow Pokémon found after fighting one of the Grunts and passes this step.

The next step will lead you to purify 15 Shadow Pokémon , so you will have to capture them by accumulating other mysterious components necessary in the search for the leaders. I advise you to wait and face them, as they will be the protagonists of the next objective.

First, however, you will have to run Pokéstops for 5 consecutive days and win 5 raids , or fights against enhanced Pokémon that take place in the gyms together with other trainers.

The fourth and final step, before the fight with the leaders, is to use 6 super-effective Charged Attacks in Gyms , defeat 3 Trainers in the Mega League, and face and beat 6 other Team Rocket members .

Once this is done, you can finally use the Radar Rocket accumulated in your Backpack to search for the leaders including, precisely, Cliff, since the Special Search will give you the goal of defeating them. So tap on the Pokéball that you find in the center of the screen, press the Backpack icon and then on the Radar to be activated.

Then arm yourself with patience: leaders are not guaranteed to come out on the first try; in any case the Radar will remain active until you have defeated one.

Mission “An Interesting New”

The mission An interesting new feature allows you to prepare for Cliff and is only unlockable after completing other missions from Team Rocket.

This Special Research is divided into 6 steps and allows you to face one of the leaders of Team Rocket from the third of these. Then tap on the orange icon at the bottom right , then find it in Specials .

First, you will have to spin 5 Pokéstop discs and, afterwards, you will have to beat 3 Team Rocket recruits and capture one of the Shadow Pokémon that can be faced after the victory. This way you can start accumulating the Mysterious Components needed to create the Radar Rocket .

The next step is very similar, as this time the recruits to beat will be 5 , as well as the Shadow Pokémon to catch . From the third step it will be possible to meet Cliff, as you will be required to beat one of the leaders three times .

All you have to do is activate, in the Backpack menu , the Radar Rocket you assembled earlier and set out in search of the fearsome general of Team Rocket. You will find him inside Pokéstops conquered by the evil team, but be careful: he is not guaranteed to meet Cliff, so you may have to turn many Pokéstops before facing him.

I advise you to follow this guide I wrote to find the head of Team Rocket, Giovanni , who will be useful for you to deepen in detail the steps to take to complete these Special Researches.

How to beat Cliff on Pokémon GO

Cliff has some really strong Pokémon, which can have 10,000 or more CP . You will therefore have to prepare your team as best as possible, varying the types of moves based on the Pokémon it will send out.

The key to winning many fights in Pokémon GO, in fact, is to target the weaknesses of the types of the opposing Pokémon. I’ll show you, therefore, the main weaknesses of Cliff’s team, always reminding you that his team could change over time .

How to beat Cliff Pokémon GO: Aerodactyl

The first member of Cliff’s team is Aerodactyl , a fearsome Rock / Flying Pokémon , present in Generation I games as a Fossil. He can put you in trouble with moves like Landslide and Sassata and has a great attack.

To defeat him, there are various combinations of Pokémon that you can use. Aerdactyl, in fact, is weak to the types Rock , Water , Ice , Steel and Electric , from which it takes 160% of the damage.

One of the strongest Pokémon to face it is definitely Mamoswine , an Ice / Ground- type Pokémon that, thanks to the Polneve fast move and the Slavina charged one , can put Aerodactyl in serious difficulty. The excellent combination of defensive and offensive also allows Mamoswine to withstand many of the offensives brought by Cliff’s Pokémon.

Valid alternatives with regards to Pokémon Ice are represented by Walrein (which can also rely on powerful Water moves ) and Ninetales form Alola , although these two are weak to Rock moves , therefore they are not considered as first choices.

Even Clawitzer , with its Martellata , can give a hard time to Aerodactyl, as it possesses one of the moves from DPS higher, combined attack of 221 Pokémon. As a Water Pokémon you can also choose Greninja and Politoed which, through their Surf and Climate Ball , can undermine Aerodactyl’s defenses.

Another Pokémon that is very useful for this battle is undoubtedly Aggron , which has access to moves such as Knock Down and Stone Edge , to bolster Aerodactyl’s Flying-type, or Steel Tail and Bombs , to hit Rock-type defenses.

The last alternative I can recommend is… Aerodactyl ! If you’ve trained a Pokémon that mirrors Cliff’s, you’ll be able to choose it for an even match, relying on the Rock-type moves it offers. But be careful: only choose Aerodactyl if you are sure you have it at a level above 10,000 PL , in order not to be defeated.

How to beat Cliff Pokémon GO: Gallade / Cradily / Slowking

As a second choice, Cliff will be able to field one of Gallade , Cradily and Slowking . The types of these Pokémon are very varied, so it is difficult to choose one that works for everyone. But I’ll show you some of the best combinations you can choose from.

Gallade is a Psychic / Fighting type Pokémon , which therefore has only three types of weaknesses: Fairy , Flying and Ghost . This Pokémon is also equipped with an exceptional attack, which should not be underestimated.

The best choice to deal with it falls on Ghost- type Pokémon and in particular on Gengar . This Pokémon, in fact, only takes 24% of the damage dealt by Gallade and can do a lot of harm with the Lick and Shadow Ball moves .

Choose him if you’re going to have your back from Gallade, or opt for some viable alternatives like Chandelure , which also has access to Fire- type moves , or Mewtwo with Shadow Ball .

Among the legendaries you can use there are also Moltres , paired with at least one Flying move like Sky Attack and Rayquaza , which can use Typhoon and Aether Blade . The Legendary are the strongest Pokémon definition of the media and may also choose to cover you if Cliff chose the other two alternatives Gallade.

To face Cradily , who is a Rock / Grass Pokémon , I recommend using the same Pokémon you used to defeat Aerodactyl , so you can count yourself lucky if she chooses him after the first fight.

This Pokémon, in fact, is weak to the Ice type , whose best representative is undoubtedly Mamoswine , the Pokémon I told you about a little while ago and which makes Slavina and Polneve its main moves. The double Ice / Ground type also neutralizes the dangers posed by Cliff ‘s Pokémon’s Rock moves .

In the same way, you can use Aggron , which through powerful Steel moves such as Steel Tail and Weight Bomb can put both Cradily and Aerodactyl in great difficulty , as well as Walrein , despite being weak to Rock moves .

The choice of a Ghost Pokémon such as Chandelure or Gengar , however, remains recommended for the second slot of your team since, as the second Pokémon, Cliff could choose another Psychic type, such as Slowking .

The second Water type of Slowking can allow you to choose interesting combinations in case you have a Zapdos , as it could learn both Electric moves like Thunder Shock or Shock Rays that can put it in difficulty, and Flying moves like Perforbick useful to neutralize the possible choice of Gallade .

In any case, the advice I would like to give you is to choose a first Pokémon of type Ice and a second Pokémon of type Ghost , in order to cover every weakness of the first two Pokémon of Cliff.

How to beat Cliff Pokémon GO: Tyranitar / Mamoswine / Dusknoir

The third Pokémon that Cliff will choose for battle will be one of Tyranitar , Mamoswine and Dusknoir , three of the strongest Pokémon in the game. It will be difficult to resist the attacks of these team members, so you will have to be able to hit them in their weak points.

Tyranitar , for example, is a Rock / Dark- type Pokémon that is doubly vulnerable to Fighting- type attacks . You can use this feature in your favor by choosing a Conkeldurr .

This Pokémon, in fact, makes the attack its strong point and can easily unhinge the defenses of Tyranitar through powerful moves like Dynamipugno and Counterattack .

Lucario is one of the best choices if you don’t have a Conkeldurr available, especially when paired with its signature move, Forzas Orb . Valid alternatives to Conkeldurr and Lucario are represented by Machamp , Sirfetch’d and Blaziken , who can also destroy the defenses of the other Pokémon that Cliff could choose, Mamoswine .

This Pokémon, in fact, shows weaknesses to the Fire types (which, however, can attack with Earth moves ), Grass , Water , Steel and above all Fighting .

By choosing one of the Pokémon used to defeat Tyranitar , in fact, you can inflict great damage on this Pokémon as well. We also recommend the use of Pokémon Water or, above all, Steel , which could affect the defenses of both.

Some of the best choices in this regard are represented by Walrein , Greninja or the usual Aggron , which can deal damage through Steel moves to both the Rock- type of Tyranitar and the Ice- type of Mamoswine.

The last Pokémon that can be chosen by Cliff, it is undoubtedly the most difficult to deal with. It is Dusknoir , a Ghost- type Pokémon , which shows weaknesses only to the Dark- type and the Ghost- type itself.

The choice of a type Pokémon fight , would be canceled from this Pokémon, while valid only alternatives are represented by Shadow Ball of Gengar or Dark Pulse of Darkrai . Just Darkrai is the best choice to make to fight this opponent, as it is resistant to both the Dark type and the Ghost type.

Neither Darkrai nor Gengar, however, could fight Mamoswine and Tyranitar, so they would represent a very risky choice, as they would expose you to the danger of defeat if Cliff uses one of the other two Pokémon.

The advice I would like to give you, therefore, is to use a Pokémon with Steel moves , since it could counter two of the last three Pokémon chosen by Cliff, playing it on a par with the possible choice of Dusknoir.

The team that I recommend you to use, therefore, is the one composed of an Ice Pokémon , a Ghost (useful both for Gallade and Slowking , and for Dusknoir ) and a Steel- type , which can counter Tyranitar , Mamoswine and possibly Aerodactyl and Cradily .

At this point, I just have to wish you good luck in the fight!
