In the next chapters, in fact, I will show you in detail some game sites that will allow you to purchase and / or download titles for PC and video game consoles, such as PlayStation and Xbox. Also, in case you want to play directly from the browser, without downloading any software, I will give you some advice on this, so you can play some online video games for free. Finally, I will give you some tips on how to get discounted video games and also some tips in case you want to buy board games to enjoy together with your friends.

PC gaming sites

If you are looking for websites to buy PC games , what I recommend you to do is try all the solutions that I will list for you in the next chapters.

Steam

Steam is the famous digital platform developed by Valve , which allows you to buy video games for computers compatible with Windows , macOS and Linux operating systems  . The strength of this platform is to be able to make purchases of video games at advantageous prices during the sales periods, which are very recurring: during the big holidays, you can buy video games with significant discounts, but the offers are available more or less all year round.

All games purchased on Steam are available through the desktop client developed by this platform, which I will tell you about in the next paragraphs. Now, since your intention is to search for a website for the purchase of PC video games, what you have to do is reach the official Steam website , to browse the catalog and possibly make the purchase of the title you would like. to play.

After reaching the link I gave you, the first thing I recommend you to do is register a free Steam account, without which you will not be able to make any purchases, or save games that may interest you to your favorites.

For this reason, among the items located at the top right, press the Login button and then click the Enter Steam button , in order to create an account on this platform. All you have to do is follow the procedure that will be shown on the screen: in case you have any doubts about it, then consult my guide dedicated to registering on Steam.

After you have logged into the Steam website, you can browse the catalog of available video games by placing the mouse cursor on the Games  item located at the top left of the menu bar. You will be shown, through a box, a list of categories that group games by genre.

Alternatively, by scrolling the screen, you will be shown all the recommended video games, those on offer, the latest news and the best-selling ones. If you know the title of the video game to download, use the Steam search engine instead , using the appropriate text box located at the top right.

When you have identified the game you would like to buy, click on its thumbnail to view its description. At this point, before making the purchase, scroll the screen until you find the System Requirements  section and make sure that the hardware and software characteristics of your computer, including the version of the operating system, reflect the minimum or recommended requirements for the correct playing the video game.

Now, to buy the selected title, click on the Add to cart button , next to the name of the content you have chosen: some video games are available in a basic version or in versions that contain additional content. I also warn you that for some video games DLCs are available , additional content that can be purchased separately from the basic version and which require the possession of the video game to be played.

Once this is done, you will be directed to the cart to complete the order. You can decide to make the purchase for yourself ( Purchase for me ) or give it to a friend on your Steam Friends List. If you want to buy it for yourself, press the appropriate button and enter a valid payment method to complete the order. Paypal , Paysafecard , Visa , MasterCard , American Express , JCB and Skrill are accepted .

If the transaction is successful, you will be shown a message stating that the game has just arrived in your Steam library. Now that you have purchased the game, you will need to download the appropriate desktop client on your PC, to access your Steam library and start the game you just purchased. In this regard, I recommend that you read my guide on how to download Steam .

Other PC gaming sites

In addition to Steam , there are several other platforms through which you can purchase PC video games. In the next few lines, I will list some such solutions that could definitely be right for you.

• Epic Games Store– is an excellent alternative to Steam, made by Epic Games , which is affirming its presence in the videogame landscape thanks to a series of titles often available in an exclusive time frame. Through this platform, it is possible to buy video games for PCs with Windows and macOS operating systems . Registration of a free account is required, on which the purchases made will be associated. To start the latter, it is essential to install the Epic Games Launcher desktop clienton the PC.
• GOG– is a platform owned by CD Projekt , created for the distribution of video games. You will know this company for its famous video games from The Witcher sagaand the most recent Cyberpunk 2077 . Given CD Project’s game distribution policy, these are DRM FREE, i.e. without anti-piracy protection. Distributed video games are available for Windows , macOS and Linux operating systems. The installation of any desktop client is not required, but the use of the GOG Galaxy software is recommended, to keep the purchased video games updated.
• Ubisoft Store– is the web portal for purchasing video games made by Ubisoft . While the latter can also be purchased on other websites, such as Steam or the Epic Games Store, the Uplay desktop client must be installed inorder to play them. This software, made by Ubisoft, allows you to access the library of video games purchased on the official store of this company and on other virtual stores.
• Origin– is the platform of  Electronic Arts for the distribution of video games developed by it, including those of some partner companies, such as Ubisoft. To play Electronic Arts video games, you need to install the Origin desktop client, available for both Windows and macOS .

PS4 game sites

If you want to buy video games for your  PlayStation , you can rely on the PlayStation Store . This is Sony’s web portal , which allows you to browse the catalog of all games available for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 , as well as titles for other Sony consoles, such as PS2 , PS Vita and PSP .

Although the PlayStation virtual store is available directly on the console, you can also browse it from its website, reachable at this link . After logging in with your PlayStation account, using the Login button , located at the top right, you can start browsing the catalog to buy your video games. If you have not yet created a PlayStation account, you can follow my guide dedicated to the subject.

You can browse all the different categories of games available on this virtual store, helping you thanks to the items you find in the left sidebar. When you have identified the game to buy, click on its thumbnail and, in the product sheet , click on the Add to cart button . In the box that is shown to you, then click on the Show cart button to proceed with the purchase.

If you have already entered a valid payment method (as I explained to you in  my guide ), using the Proceed to payment button , you will be directed directly to the purchase summary. Otherwise, using the Add payment method button , you will need to enter your credit or debit card details, your PayPal account or the PSN prepaid card code that can be purchased at any electronics store. Once this is done, confirm the purchase using the appropriate button, to then be able to play the video games you have just purchased directly on your console.

If you are looking for a website through which you can buy video games not in digital format but on disc, I suggest you contact Amazon , which always offers very interesting prices. Alternatively, to save even more money, you can try to find used video games for PlayStation on Subito , Kijiji or eBay , which I told you about in my tutorial on used online sites .

Xbox One gaming sites

If you own an Xbox One console and want to buy video games on the Internet, you can act directly from Microsoft’s official website , in the Xbox games section. Obviously, you will need an Xbox account to make purchases, which must be the same as the one associated with the console.

After reaching the link I gave you, press the Login item , located at the top right, to log in with your Xbox account. Once this is done, you can start browsing the video game catalog: in the screen that is shown to you, you can access some preset categories, such as those relating to weekly offers, the best games for Xbox One and those for Xbox 360.

Alternatively, in the menu bar at the top, select the Games> Console games items and choose one of the options that are shown to you: by choosing the Xbox One games item , you will access the catalog of games for the Xbox One console, while pressing on the Xbox 360 Games entry , you will see the Xbox 360 catalog.

When you have identified the game you want to buy, click on its thumbnail to access its description. To proceed with the purchase, then press the Buy button and re-enter the password of your Xbox account. If you have not already associated a valid payment method to your account, through the appropriate screen that is shown to you, you can add one: credit and debit cards , PayPal accounts and Xbox prepaid cards are supported that you can buy in any electronics store.

When you are done, press the Next button and click on the appropriate button to confirm the purchase of the video game. The latter will be available in the list of purchased titles, accessible directly from your Xbox.

As I have already indicated to you in the previous chapter , in case you want to buy the games on disc (and not in digital format), there are several alternatives that can be for you, such as Amazon and the sites for buying games used.

Online gaming sites

Do you want to play video games directly online without having to download any software? In this case you can rely on browser games, which can be used directly through the Internet browser already pre-installed in the operating system ( Edge on Windows or Safari on macOS) or by using one of the most famous, such as Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox .

Free game sites

Are you looking for websites to download free games ? In this case, you will be happy to know that you can take advantage of all the platforms I told you about in the previous chapters, to get free games to play on your PC or console.

You should know, in fact, that some virtual stores such as Steam or Epic Games Store , periodically offer free video games, the promotion of which is only available for a limited period of time. For example, there are frequent promotions on Steam that allow you to play a video game for free for a couple of days. On the Epic Games Store , however, video games are given away on a weekly basis, even if not recent.

In addition, you can download completely free video games, which are distributed with the Free to Play formula . These games, available on both PC and console, allow you to play the title for free, but additional content is available that is completely optional, which can expand the gaming experience or simply customize the digital avatar, for a fee.

Alternatively, if you have activated  PlayStation Plus or Xbox Live Gold to play online on your console, you are offered monthly video games that can be redeemed for free. You will be able to continue playing the video games obtained for free through these services, as long as you keep your subscription active. In fact, in the event that you do not have to renew your subscription, these specific video games will no longer be accessible, but you will be able to replay them as soon as you have reactivated your subscription.

Discounted game sites

If you are looking for websites that can help you find discounted video games , in the next few lines you will find some solutions that can definitely be for you.

I warn you that on the Internet you will find many Web portals that offer you video games at advantageous prices. Often, however, these kinds of websites are not authorized digital stores and, therefore, you can run the risk that the video games purchased cannot be redeemed, as the unique key to be used on the distributor’s site is already used or not working.

In other cases, however, it may happen that you may be able to redeem the video game, but you could lose access to it at a later time, perhaps because the seller had obtained the key through fraudulent methods. This means that the distributor, due to the report, has blocked the unique key that you had purchased, effectively losing access to the video game.

In general, to avoid scams of any kind, my advice is to rely on authorized websites, such as those I told you about in the previous chapters, which offer, on certain occasions, discounts for video games.

Alternatively, you can use the IsThereAnyDeal website which allows, after registering for a free account, to monitor your video games and track their prices, according to values ​​set by you, so that you can be notified when they drop in price.

Board game sites

Are you looking for a website to buy a board game ? In this case, the simplest and most immediate solution is to contact Amazon . This famous e-commerce, in fact, in its immense product catalog, offers a section dedicated to board games.
