How to change the language in League of Legends

League of Legends has been translated into many languages. Of course, for the sake of our convenience, there is also a Russian version, which is the default option for all players in the RU-region. However, there are players who are curious to hear the “canon” voices of their favorite characters, or just want to combine business with pleasure while learning another language. In this case, you have to change the language of the game. Some projects in such a situation allow you to select the voice and interface language in the settings, but League of Legends does not provide such an opportunity, tightly screwing the language to the selected region.
Still, you can switch the language, and for this it is not at all necessary to change the server. And in this guide, we show you how you can do it. True, you cannot select the voice-over language separately , so the interface language will change too.
It is worth clarifying that Riot Games does not promise a stable game if you forcefully change its language. Fortunately, you will not be given a ban for using the method described in this guide, and we did not find any problems with the game (except for displaying characters in the chat).

How to change voice acting and interface language in League of Legends

  1. Open the game folder. If you do not know where it is, then go to the Riot Games launcher and click on the button in the upper right corner, and in the drop-down menu select “Settings”. The “Installation point” column will display the location of the game folder. Be sure to close the client after that.
  1. Create a shortcut to LeagueClient.exe . To do this, right-click and select “Create shortcut” from the context menu .
  2. Right-click on the newly created shortcut and select “Properties”.
  3. In the “Object” field after the quotes, put a space and write –locale = en_GB (en_GB here is the localization code for the UK, you can write any other instead).
  4. Click OK .
  5. Start the game using this shortcut.
  6. After launching, you will have to download new files (approximately 1.5 GB, depending on the language). Wait a little – and you can play.
Now you will need to launch the game using such a shortcut. For convenience, you can simply transfer it to your desktop.
If you switched to a language that uses a different graphic system (Latin, hieroglyphs, etc.), words written in Cyrillic in the chat will not be displayed correctly. So by using a non-native server language, you will most likely never know what other players are talking about (although sometimes this is for the best).
