App to block incoming calls

Is there a number that does not give you peace and that you would like to block? In that case, try the apps to block incoming calls that I have reported below. Thanks to them you can automatically reject all phone calls received from specific users.

Android contact blocker

If you are using an Android smartphone , you do not need to use third-party call blocking apps to prevent incoming calls from certain numbers, but you can do it all using the “standard” Contact Blocking feature on your device. How to use? I’ll explain it to you right away.

To begin with, take your phone, unlock it, access the home screen and / or the drawer and select the icon of the Contacts app or Phonebook of the device (usually it is the one with the phone book ).

In the new screen that is now shown to you, select the name of the person you want to block, then touch the Menu button (usually it is the one with the three dots vertically ) located at the top, select the item Add contact to blacklist or Block contact from the menu that opens and, if the number does not belong to a spammer, deselect the option Report as spam, if any. Finally, tap the Lock button . Done!

If, on the other hand, you want to prevent calls from a number not in the phonebook, select the Phone app icon (usually the one with the phone handset ) that you always find on the home screen and / or in the drawer, access the call log , tap on the numbering you are interested in, press the Menu button and proceed in the same way as I have just explained to you for the saved contacts.

If you have second thoughts, to retrace your steps, reach the Android screen again visible after selecting a contact and choose the Unblock contact option or the Unblock option from the panel through which you can perform operations on it.

Please note that the information I have given you may not exactly coincide with what you see on your phone display. This depends on the version of Android you are using and the brand and model of your smartphone.

IOS Contact Blocker

If you are looking for an app to block calls on iPhone , I inform you that, even in this case, you do not need to use third-party solutions, but you can do everything through the default iOS contact blocking function . It’s so easy, don’t worry.

To be able to use it, take the “iPhone by” unlock it, access the home screen and / or the drawer and select the Settings icon (the one in the shape of a gear wheel ), then tap on the Phone item in the new proposed screen. At this point, touch the words Blocked contacts , then the Add and indicate the contact to block.

If, on the other hand, you are interested in blocking a number that is not in your address book from which you have already received a few calls, select the Phone app icon (the one with the green background and the white telephone handset ) located in the home screen and / or in the app Library, go to the Recent section of the new screen displayed, tap on the (i) present in correspondence with the number to be blocked and on the word Block contact twice.

In case you have to think again, you can unblock one or more contacts at any time by going to the Settings> Phone> iOS blocked contacts section , tapping on the Edit item at the top right, pressing the red circular button next to the contact on which intervene and on the Unblock button that appears on the right. When you have completed your changes, touch the word Done located at the top of the display.

App to block spam calls

Do you get bombarded with calls from call centers and other “nuisances” every day? Don’t panic! In this case, you can consider contacting apps to block spam calls , which automatically prevent phone calls from all “harassing” numbers: just install them and, thanks to databases of “annoying” numbers updated daily , are automatically rejected.

Truecaller (Android / iOS)

Truecaller is one of the best apps for blocking calls from cell centers around, as well as a popular app for blocking calls from numbers not in the phonebook . It is available for both Android and iOS and is also able to block numbers from scammers, call center operators and other habitual “annoyances”, thanks to the constantly updated database which complicates life especially for telemarketers. Note that in order to use it, you must register with your Google or Microsoft account and you must be willing to share your phone number in its database.. Basically it’s free, but in-app purchases are offered (at a basic cost of 3.99 euros per month) to unlock the automatic database update.

To download and install the app on your device, proceed as follows: if you are using Android , access the relevant section of the Play Store and press the Install button ; if you are using iOS , access the relevant section of the App Store , press the Get button , then click the Install button and authorize the download via Face ID , Touch ID or Apple ID password . Then, start the app by selecting its icon on the home screen.

Now that you see the main Truecaller screen, follow the wizard to register and start using the service. Therefore, enter your number in the appropriate field, wait for this to be verified by an automatic call or by sending an SMS from Truecaller, enter your name , your surname and your in the fields that appear on the screen. email address (optional) and click on the Continue button .

After completing the above steps, you will be prompted to enable nuisance detection. To do this, if you are using Android, tap on the shield icon located at the top right, locate the item Block well-known spammers and turn ON the appropriate switch.

If you’re using iOS, visited previously in the section Settings> Phone> Call barring and identification of the iPhone and shifts to ON the switch located at the words TrueCaller , then re-open the app TrueCaller, went to the section undesirable ID and tap Update Now to update the list with known annoyance numbers.

However, please note that call blocking is not automatically applied on iOS . If you want to avoid receiving calls from certain annoyances, when you are contacted by them (Truecaller reports it to you) add them manually to the list of calls to block on the device, using the default iPhone function that I told you about in the passage at the beginning guide .

Furthermore, considering that the feature that allows you to update the database automatically is only available for a fee, if you have not signed up for any subscription, I invite you, from time to time, to go to the appropriate section of the app and tap on the item to check the availability of any updates.

If you decide not to use Truecaller anymore, you can request the removal of your number from the service database by deactivating your account by filling in the appropriate form . You can disable your Truecaller account directly from the app. To do this, if you are using Android go to the Home section of the app, press the button with horizontal lines at the top left, on the Settings item , on the Privacy Center and on the Deactivate one . If you are using iOS , go to the Other section of the app instead , select the Settings item , then thatPrivacy Center and tap Deactivate account .

Should I Answer (Android / iOS)

Another app to block anonymous calls that I invite you to consider is Should I Answer . This is a solution that inhibits phone calls from known annoyances that bases its operation on a proprietary database continuously expanded by the feedback provided by users. There is both for Android and for iOS, but in the first case it is free and in-app purchases are offered (at the base price of € 2.39) to unlock extra functions, while in the second case it is necessary to sign up for a paid subscription (at the cost of basis of 1.99 euros per month) to be able to use it. Given its characteristics, it can also be considered an excellent app for blocking calls from abroad .

To use Should I Answer, download and install the app from the relevant section of the Play Store or from alternative stores for Android , or from the appropriate section of the iOS App Store , then start it.

Once the main screen of the app is displayed, grant it all the necessary permissions required, scroll through the information sheets that illustrate its operation and press the button to activate the protection , in order to preventively block the calls coming from the so-called known annoyers.

Please note, however, that if you are using Android you must set Should I Answer as the default Phone app on your device. Alternatively, click on the Passive Protection button , so you can see the spam alerts and, based on your choice, choose the type of alerts or give the app access to information on calls received.

With regard to blocking calls, then, tap the button with the horizontal lines at the top, select the Settings item , then the Block item and move the switches located in correspondence to the various types of calls you intend to block to ON .

If you are using iOS, however, the same speech made in the previous step relating to Truecaller applies : the function for blocking calls and identification must be enabled in advance in the iOS settings and unwanted calls are not automatically prevented, but the numbers reported to the list of blocked contacts.

App to block anonymous calls

If you receive calls made with the private number and you want to prevent this from happening, you can use apps to block anonymous calls , such as the ones I have reported below. However, keep in mind that if anonymous calls are used to disturb you obsessively or even to threaten you, instead of following the instructions below, I invite you to contact the competent authorities.

Android default function

On Android , to block incoming calls made with anonymous you can use the default function offered by the device. How is it used? I’ll tell you right away, it’s very easy.

Again, keep in mind that the information I have given you may differ from what you see on your smartphone display. This depends on the Android version installed and the phone brand and model.

Full immersion of iOS

If you are using iOS, you can block anonymous calls using the default Full Immersion feature . Thanks to it you can in fact inhibit the reception of calls, even anonymous ones and notifications, being able to also choose to activate the function at a customized time or upon the occurrence of certain conditions.

To take advantage of Full Immersion for your purpose, tap the Settings icon on the home screen and / or in the App Library, touch the wording Full Immersion in the new screen displayed and select the full immersion you think can do the most to your case.

Then, move the switch on the new screen that is proposed to ON to ON . If you want, add a time or automation by clicking on the wording at the bottom of the screen.

In case you have second thoughts, you can disable the Full immersion mode set at any time, even if it has been activated in a programmed manner, by selecting it from the iOS settings screen dedicated to the aforementioned function and turning the relative switch to OFF .

Whooming (Android / iOS)

If the default functions of your device do not seem sufficient to you, you can consider contacting Whooming , which is not really an app to block calls made with anonymous, but it can be useful to find out the real numbering of who is making them ( using the call forwarding technique). It is available for both Android and iOS and basic is free, but after a 7-day trial the intercepted numbers are partially obscured: to view them in clear text, you need to sign up for a paid subscription (at the basic cost of 11.99 euros for three months ).

To use TrueCaller, download and install the application from the relevant section of the Play Store for Android (or alternative store ) or by the relevant section of the App Store for iOS , then start it.

Through the screen displayed, then register for the service by pressing the Sign in button with your e-mail , selecting the item Sign up here and filling in the text fields visible on the screen with your email address and password , then press the Sign up button , return to the the verification code that was sent to you via e-mail in the appropriate text field and tap the Verify button .

If you do not want to register with your email, you can do it with your Google, Facebook or Apple account , by pressing the appropriate buttons and following the instructions on the screen to complete the procedure.

After registration, touch the Start configuration button , indicate the country , the operator and the telephone number to be registered using the menus and text fields provided, tap the Next button and, in the new screen that opens, press the button Set forwarding number and make a call to the number shown on the display.

At this point, go back to the Whooming app again, press the OK button I ‘m ready! , tap the Call your number button , initiate a call to your own number and wait for the answering machine to answer.

After completing the above steps, go once again to the Whooming app, press the Go to call list button and grant the necessary permissions to access the phonebook on the device. From now on, every time you receive an anonymous call, all you have to do is refuse it , so as to allow it to be intercepted by Whooming, which will indicate the number of whoever calls you on the Call Log screen .
