Preliminary information
Before going into the details of the procedure on how to get honey in Minecraft, I think it may interest you to know more about this possibility.
Well, the feature was introduced in the game with the Buzzy Bees update, released in 2019 through version 1.15 of the Java Edition of Minecraft for PC. This update added the bees, the objects of honey ampoule and Honeycomb and blocks Beehive, apiary, Block honeycombs and lock of honey.
In short, the update brought with it everything you need to manage honey. If you’re wondering what elements to use, just find a Beehive and have a Cruet. In fact, the honey vial is created through these two objects. For more details on the Buzzy Bees update, I recommend you check out the official Minecraft website.
As for the Survival mode, you should know that the common Cruet can be built by combining 3 units of glass in a workbench. The latter, on the other hand, is achieved through 4 axes of each type: just press the E key and use the appropriate construction “table”.
The glass is obtained instead through the use of a furnace: you need to use 1 unit of any fuel together with Sand or Red Sand, which you can obtain simply by “breaking” the relevant blocks. For more details, I recommend that you check out my tutorial on how to make a furnace.
For the rest, Hives can be found around the map. However, there are also Arnie or the “hives” that can be created directly from the player. The latter are made by joining 6 boards of any type to 3 units of Honeycomb. The honeycombs can be collected from the hives using shears.
Once you have obtained the Honey Cruet, it can be used to recover 3 whole units of hunger which, in simple terms, is a food that can be very useful for not having too many problems with your character.
In any case, if you have doubts about how to get a certain object, I suggest you use the MineSearch tool: a portal that allows you to search for an item and discover all the materials needed to make it. To use this service, just connect to its official website, type in the search bar (present at the top right) the name of the element you need and select the most relevant result.
In this way, the combination of objects necessary to create that element will appear on the screen. In short, “relying on” this tool (always updated) and following the instructions I have previously provided you should not have any problem in obtaining the necessary elements in Survival mode.
How to collect honey in Minecraft
After explaining to you in detail how this element is handled, I would say that you are ready to take action and learn how to get honey in Minecraft. For this chapter, I used version 1.15.2 of the Java edition of Minecraft for PC without exploiting any mods.
Well, once you have the Cruet, you have to look for a beehive in the game. The best way to find it is to follow a bee on its way home. It may take some time, but usually bees always return to the hive to carry pollen. Generally speaking, you can find bees in wooded areas.
Once you get to the hive, go around it and find the point where it has “cracks” : if they are brown, it means that you cannot get the honey yet, while if they are yellow it means that you can. You must therefore wait for the bees to bring enough pollen to the hive to be able to collect the honey.
When the hive is “filled” (usually the bees have to enter 5 times ), use the Ampoule with the right mouse button, pressing on the hive. In this way, you will get the Honey Cruet, chock full of the latter.
Perfect, you have now correctly learned how to collect honey in Minecraft. To eat the latter, just hold down the right mouse button. Obviously, the cruet will remain in your hand and you can use it to collect more honey.
How to keep bees at bay
Now that you know how to get honey within the Mojang title, it is good to warn you of the danger related to bees. In fact, the latter may not be very happy to have their honey stolen and decide to attack you.
For this reason, I recommend that you place a campfire under the hive so that the bees stay inside and don’t bother you. Obviously, this should be done when the bees have already brought all the pollen, otherwise you will not be able to collect the honey.
I remind you that, to create the campfire, you need 3 sticks, a unit of charcoal and 3 units of any wood. For more details, I suggest you use the tool I described in the introductory chapter.
Great, now you also know how to keep bees away from your character. Since you are a fan of the Mojang title, I would recommend that you take a look at the page of my site dedicated to Minecraft, where you can find countless tutorials that could be for you.
