The first Jeep – then they were just a Willys model – appeared in 1941, and after the war they gradually emerged into a separate brand, widely known for its SUVs. Nevertheless, over the long history of the brand, very interesting Jeep have appeared, and not only off-road ones. So, unusual jeeps!

Kaiser-Willys Jeep Wide-Trac (1960). Concept car developed under the Jeep brand by Kaiser, which had acquired Jeep’s parent company Willys-Overland seven years earlier. The bodywork studio Crown Coach worked on the design – the result should have been, as we say, an all-terrain crew bus (or rather, a universal chassis for installing a number of cargo and passenger bodies). The car turned out to be not very successful in a number of parameters, and the project was closed, the only manufactured copy was not preserved.

Jeep XJ002 Bolide (1969). Against the backdrop of muscle car fashion, Kaiser Jeep decided to present its version of a sports car. In 1969, two concepts appeared at once – the open XJ001 and the closed XJ002 (we wrote about the XJ001 separately ). The XJ002 was built on a Jeepster Commando chassis and had a lightweight plastic body. The concept has survived to this day and is currently undergoing restoration.

Jeep Wagoneer 2000 (1991). A futuristic prototype of a 21st century car (in general, in the late 80s – early 90s it was very fashionable to predict what they would drive in the 2000s). In principle, it turned out close. The car was equipped with a 5.2-liter 220-horsepower engine, four-wheel drive and a luxury-style interior.

Jeep Ecco (1993). Eco-friendly subcompact: the car is made entirely of highly biodegradable and recyclable materials. Equipped with a 1.5-liter 85-horsepower engine and all-wheel drive.

Jeep Jeepster (1998). The concept car, named after the classic 1960s model, was primarily characterized by amazing tires specially designed by Goodyear. Even after a puncture of all four wheels, the car could move about 75 km on flat tires.

Jeep Treo (2003). An electric car with two motors driving the front and rear pairs of wheels respectively, an attempt to show something similar to the Smart at the 2003 Tokyo Motor Show.

Jeep Nukizer 715 (2010). The strikingly beautiful retro SUV has given rise to a series of vintage-styled Jeep concept cars. Visually, the designers started from the classic army model Kaiser Jeep M715 (1965). Titanic Goodrich KM2 tires and a 2.8-liter turbo diesel engine provided the car with excellent cross-country ability.

Jeep Wrangler Blue Crush (2011). A concept safari car developed (however, like the previous model) by the Mopar division, which specializes in the production and supply of spare parts for Chrysler vehicles. This car can be safely considered the most “all-terrain” Jeep in history.

Jeep J-12 (2012). A flawlessly beautiful retro pickup, a logical sequel to the Nukizer 715 designed by designer Kyle Evans.Jeep Mighty FC (2012) . And one more retro jeep, this time in the unusual form factor of a light cabover pickup. The design of the model refers the viewer to the classic Jeep Forward Control truck model, produced since 1956. The concept is based on the Wrangler Rubicon, powered by tuning components from Mopar.
