We made a review of the smart bedside lamp Yeelight LED Bedside Lamp D2 from Xiaomi with a minimalist design and flexible settings for brightness, color and modes.

Design and ergonomics

The Yeelight LED Bedside Lamp D2 has a neutral appearance, so it will organically fit into almost any interior.

The case is made of plastic, and the device itself consists of two visually delimited parts. The white top is a diffuser that emits light.

On the gray bottom there are controls: a touch button in the middle and two touch horizontal stripes to the left and right of the button.

On the opposite side of the button is the charging port. At the bottom of the device there are rubberized inserts that prevent the lamp from sliding on the surface.

The lamp is quite compact, so it will fit not only on the desktop, but also on a shelf or bedside table.

Connectivity, control and features

The lamp connects to your phone or tablet via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi. Management is carried out in several ways:

1. Touch buttons on the device

To turn on / off the lamp, press the central button. The device will enter white light mode. The right slider is responsible for changing the brightness, and the left slider is responsible for the glow temperature. To control, you need to swipe from left to right or vice versa.

To switch to color light mode, you need to hold down the center button for 2 seconds. In this mode, the left slider will be responsible for the color of the glow.

2. Using Yandex Alice and Google Assistant

The lamp supports voice control. To do this, the device will need to be added to the list in the Yandex or Google application by selecting the desired manufacturer and model.

3. Using a mobile application

The Yeelight app is available for both Android and iOS. To pair, you need to reset the lamp settings – simultaneously hold down the center button and the right touch panel for 10 seconds.

The application has a wide range of settings for the lamp. You can change the preset modes, including:

• Sunset mode (the light from the lamp gradually dims, simulating a sunset).
• Dawn mode (the light gradually becomes brighter).
• Reading mode.
• Night mode (night light mode).

Several modes are available to create a special mood (Romance, Date, Cozy Home, Candle, Birthday, etc. modes). Particularly interesting is the “Music mode”, which allows you to arrange light music with the help of a dynamic change of colors to the beat of the melody. The user can create their own modes for any needs.

In addition to modes, you can set a timer, change colors (16 million shades are available), glow temperature, brightness, and also update the lamp firmware.

In operation, the lamp shows an excellent result: the glow is soft and unobtrusive, while at high brightness levels you can comfortably read or make notes without additional light sources.

Results

Yeelight LED Bedside Lamp D2 is a small neat lamp that has a nice appearance and ample control and settings. It can serve as both a night light and a light source for work and reading. Built-in modes allow you to set almost any mood depending on the circumstances, whether it’s a cozy home evening or a holiday.
