Windows 11 CPU compatibility requirements

Microsoft has already announced the minimum system requirements for Windows 11. On the official website you can already find information on the minimum system requirements.

It is already clear that many users will not be suitable for Windows 11, since not everyone has modern computers. The requirements for compatibility of the graphics adapter with DirectX 12 are especially striking. I do not think that due to the release of the new OS, all these users will decide to upgrade their computer hardware.

For owners of modern computers, there will be no problems with the transition to the new OS. At first, there will be only interruptions in work until Windows 11 becomes as optimized as possible. Although Windows 10 is still difficult to call optimized, we all remember the problems and malfunctions of the OS when an update is released.

If you go further, then on the Microsoft website there is a list of processor requirements, which you can familiarize yourself with. I would like to call such requirements overstated, since in the presented lists there are not many lines of processors that now remain relevant and sufficient for modern games and heavy applications.

Support for 8th Gen Intel Core (Coffee Lake) processors has been indicated. For AMD processors, Zen + architecture is required. Models A and FX lines are not supported. Ryzen 1000 models and most of the 2000 series are also missing.

The PC Health Check utility was available on the site for some time to check the compatibility of Windows 11. But now I have not found where it can be downloaded from the official site. I don’t take into account third-party resources. According to information from the network, Microsoft temporarily removed this application after receiving a huge number of user complaints about the incorrect operation of this program. Most likely it is expected to return soon, possibly closer to the release of Windows 11.

I really hope that by the time Windows 11 is released and available to install, the minimum system requirements will be lower. On the other hand, Windows 11 will be a modern operating system that will have to evolve further, and support for outdated computer hardware will only limit development.

The list of processor compatibility for Windows 11 can be found on the official Microsoft website.
