Will Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 be released?
Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 is a sore point for fans of the half-finished but phenomenal original Bloodlines, which still receives unofficial patches from a dedicated gaming community to this day. By the way, speaking of patches, in April of this year a new patch for VTMB was released under version 11.1. Let’s go back to the sequel. So, when is the game coming out? Soon?
About the development of VTMB 2 and its possible release
The announcement of Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 took place back in March 2019, and the release of the game was planned for the next year, 2020. As we can see, no release has taken place. Moreover, the game has been postponed several times: first to late 2020, then to 2021. During this time, Hardsuit Labs released several trailers for the game, which focused on the unique vampire clans and gameplay in general.
Despite the postponements, VTMB fans remained optimistic, especially considering the content shown in the trailers. Well, just think, transfers are quite normal for such an industry. True, but as it turned out, there were a lot of troubles during development: the sexual harassment accusation of Chris Avellone, the firing of Kaai-Cluny and Brian Mitsoda, creative and narrative directors, and other slightly less, but still disturbing events. In general, a natural production hell.
The final nail in the lid of the kind of coffin that VTMB2 lay in was the announcement by Paradox Interactive that the development of the project was being transferred from Hardsuit Labs to a completely different studio. Nothing is known about the latter.
When will Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 be released? This is known only to Paradox Interactive, although this is not a fact. At the moment, the fate of the long-awaited sequel in the setting of the World of Darkness is unknown.
