How to update Android WhatsApp contacts

Let’s start by seeing how to update WhatsApp contacts on Android . If you are having difficulty in finding a contact on WhatsApp you previously added in the address book, start the Settings app located on the home screen and / or in the drawer of your device, go to the App and notifications section and press the WhatsApp icon present in the list of apps installed on the device.

Once this is done, click on Permissions and verify that WhatsApp is granted permission to access contacts. Otherwise, click on the Contacts item and check the Allow option to activate this feature.

The steps just indicated apply to all versions of Android and smartphone brands, so if for example you are wondering how to update WhatsApp contacts on HUAWEI , Samsung or Xiaomi , the procedure you must follow is always the same.

Once the above function is enabled, the contacts in the address book will be automatically synchronized with the WhatsApp address book, even in case of changes. In this regard, I would like to point out that if you want to make changes to a contact card , you can go to the private chat screen with the user of your interest in WhatsApp and press on his name , at the top.

Then, on the next screen, press the icon (…) at the top right and press the Edit option , in order to view the contact card in the address book of your device.

Once this is done, click on the pencil icon to edit the contact information such as, for example, name and surname to be displayed. Finally, confirm the change with the check mark icon .

How to update WhatsApp contacts on iPhone

Wondering how to update WhatsApp contacts on iPhone because you would like to make sure that the contacts added to your smartphone’s address book are synchronized with the famous messaging app? In this case you must verify that the latter has the permissions to access the contacts.

To do this, press the Settings app located on the home screen and / or in the drawer of your device. Once this is done, press on the WhatsApp item and move the lever located next to the Contacts item to ON , if it is disabled: in this way you will allow WhatsApp to access the contacts in your smartphone’s address book and you will be sure that, in case of any changes to the contacts, these are also updated in WhatsApp.

In this regard, in case you want to make changes to a contact by acting directly from WhatsApp , go to the private chat screen with the user of your interest and tap on his name located at the top. Then press the Edit button and make any changes to the contact card, for example by changing the name and surname displayed. Finally, click on the Save button located at the top right, to complete the operation.

Of course you can also edit the contact card directly through the app Contacts for iOS ; in this case, all you have to do is start it, locate the contact to edit and press the Edit button to make any changes.
