How to turn PDF to JPEG
Have you downloaded a PDF file full of interesting illustrations and would like to save them as images in JPEG format? Nothing easier, believe me. By now there are several applications, as well as several online services, which allow you to transform PDF to JPEG in a handful of clicks. All for free or, at most, for the cost of a coffee.
If you don’t believe it, take five minutes of free time and take a look at the solutions I am about to recommend. These are two programs for Windows and Mac plus a Web service that can be used from any browser that allow you to transform the pages of PDF documents into JPG files and / or to extrapolate the images contained in PDFs in a very simple way.
You can also choose the resolution of the images to be obtained and, if you deem it appropriate, the range of the pages to be converted to JPEG. I bet you will be surprised at the speed with which you will be able to complete the operation, not to mention the quality of the images you will get with the software and online services that you find below! So, what are you waiting for to try them?
Convert PDF to JPEG on Windows
If you are using a Windows PC and want to convert the pages of a PDF to JPEG, I highly recommend you give it a try PDF-XChange Viewer . It is a free and portable PDF reader (that is, it does not require installations to work) which, among its many functions, also integrates the one to export document pages as images.
To download it on your PC, connected to its official website, put the check mark next to the Portable version (ZIP) item located in the right sidebar and press the Download now button . When the download is complete, open the zip archive that contains the software, extract the contents in any folder and start the executable PDFXCview.exe .
At this point you just have to open the PDF to be transformed into JPEG (using the Open button located at the top left) and select the Export> Export as image item from the File menu of PDF-XChange Viewer.
In the window that opens, choose whether to export all the pages of the selected PDF as an image , putting the check mark next to the appropriate option, or just a specific range of pages, putting the check mark next to the item Pages and typing the numbers of the pages to convert to JPEG in the adjacent text field. Then set the JPEG item in the Image Type drop-down menu , click on the Browse button , choose the folder to export the images to and press the Export button to complete the operation.
If you want, you can also adjust the zoom level and resolution of the images to be exported (I suggest you stay on 100% zoom and a resolution of no less than 300 DPI) using the appropriate menus at the bottom left.
Convert PDF to JPEG on Mac
If you want to turn PDF to JPEG and you are using a Mac, you can rely on PDF Toolkit + , a small but powerful software that includes functions for editing, converting and creating PDF documents. Unfortunately it is not free, it costs € 1.99, but I assure you that it is worth every penny of its price.
To download PDF Toolkit + on your computer, all you have to do is search for it in the Mac App Store and press the button with the price of the app. Once the download is complete (the installation takes place completely automatically), start the program and click on the Text / Images tab .
Then drag the PDF you want to transform into images in the program window, set the JPEG option in the drop-down menu at the bottom right and click the Convert button to choose the folder to export the output files. Through the Save as images menu , you can also set the resolution that the photos generated by the software must have: I recommend that you never go below the High resolution option (300 dpi) .
If you don’t want to convert your PDF to JPEG but just want to extract the images contained in the document (without the text or other content), click the Extract button ! located under the heading Extract images instead of the Convert button .
