How do you say? This is exactly how things are and you ask yourself, therefore,  how to see a place in real-time? If so, let me suggest the right tools to do this. In the course of this tutorial, in fact, I will tell you about some sites and apps for portable devices that allow you to access city cameras from all over the world: in this way, you will be able to see real-time images of the places you would like to go, in good quality and without spending a penny. Sure, it won’t be quite like traveling, but I’m sure you’ll be able to settle for it.

To see a place in real time you need to use online services that allow you to see the webcams of the cities in live streaming. Among these, first of all I recommend the Webviewcams website which is characterized by the remarkable simplicity of its user interface, through which it is possible to access the cameras of numerous cities around the world.

To use it, connect to its official website from a computer or smartphone and tablet, using any browser to browse the Internet. Once this is done, identify the city you want to see by referring, for example, to the preview images that you can find on the home page of the service.

Alternatively, to explore all the cameras available on the site, refer to the planisphere which is located in correspondence with the wording  Control cameras all over the world. Then click on a  continent, then on the item that indicates the country of your interest and that’s it.

Once you have identified the webcam of the place you are interested in seeing, click on its preview image and the live stream will start automatically. Once this is done, you can possibly control the camera, using the side levers that are used to adjust the angle and zoom level.

Skyline webcams

Another great web service that you can use to see a place in real time via webcams is the Skyline webcams website, which is characterized by its high quality footage.

To use the service, connect to its home page via the browser of your computer, smartphone or tablet and press on the flag located in the upper right corner, in order to select the Italian one and translate the site interface .

Once this is done, locate the webcam of the city you want to see, referring to the preview images located on the main screen or using the Live webcam ,  webcam by category and  Top webcam menus .

Once you have identified the webcam of the place you are interested in seeing, start its live broadcast by clicking on the preview image of the camera. Then, if the playback does not start automatically, press the play button.

EarthCam

This very famous website is accessible from computers, smartphones and tablets and is very simple to consult: to use it, in fact, just connect to its main page from a PC or start its free app for  Android or iOS.

Once this is done, locate the camera of the city you want to “visit”, referring to the preview image located on the home page of the service. Alternatively, if you plan to virtually visit a specific place, you can refer to the search engine located at the top right: type in the latter the name of the city of your interest and press the Search button. In addition, you can virtually travel the world by clicking on the webcams of the World entry and access a world map with all available cameras.

After identifying the webcam of your interest, click on its preview image to start its live broadcast. To manage the camera, on the other hand, use the speaker icon, if you want to adjust the volume of the room, or, if available, use the side levers to adjust the framing.

How to find other webcams

To find other webcams through which to see a place in real time, you can use Google or any other search engine. In fact, you just need to do a simple search to find other Internet sites similar to those indicated in this guide of mine.

In this regard, after connecting to the main page of Google, type, in the text field dedicated to the search, the terms inurl: / view.shtml or titolo: “Live View / – AXIS” inurl: view / view.shtml ^  , then press the Search with Google button or press the Enter key on your keyboard directly.

In this way, in the search results, you will be shown the list of all public webcams that are broadcasting live and, by clicking on the results, you will be able to access them.

Webcam app

Finally, here is a list of apps for smartphones and tablets that allow you to travel around the world by viewing hundreds of webcams in real-time.

• EarthCam( Android / iOS ) – is the EarthCam website app that I told you about in detail in the previous chapter of this tutorial. It is free and very simple to use thanks to its user interface which, in a similar way to the website, allows you to see live webcams from cities all over the world.
• Weather WebCam Live( Android ) – this free app allows you to virtually travel around the world via webcams from cities around the world. In addition, it offers the possibility of knowing some meteorological information about the city, providing data on the place, such as temperature, humidity and wind speed.
• Webcam Live: Live( iOS ) – unlike the previous solutions, this app for iOS is characterized by high definition footage but is not free. At the first access you are given the opportunity to use it unlimitedly for 3 days, after which, to continue using it, you need to sign up for a subscription that starts at € 7.99 per month.
• Landwebcams( iOS ) – it is an excellent paid app, the cost of which is € 6.99, through which it is possible to see a place in real-time through the webcams which are positioned in correspondence with landscapes such as mountains, lakes and oceans.
