Preliminary information

Before I explain in detail how to recover deleted photos from Instagram, let me give you some preliminary information about it.

As mentioned at the beginning of the post, Instagram includes the Recently deleted feature that allows you to restore photos and / or videos published in any section of the social network ( posts , stories , Reels and IGTV ) as long as these elements have been deleted by maximum 30 days.

As for the stories, however, if the functionality relating to the archive of the same has not been activated (via the section Camera settings> History of the Instagram app) the deleted contents can only be recovered within 24 hours of their deletion. If, on the other hand, the archive has been activated, they can be recovered within 30 days .

Another important thing to note is that the function for recovering deleted photos is only available in the Instagram app for Android and iOS . At the time of writing, in fact, it is not possible to proceed with the recovery of the deleted items from the PC (neither through the official Instagram site nor through its application for Windows 10 ).

How to restore deleted photos from Instagram

Having made the necessary premises above, let’s see how to recover deleted photos from Instagram Android and how to recover deleted photos from Instagram iPhone: the steps to be taken are practically the same on both operating systems.

Therefore, launch the Instagram app on your smartphone and log into your account if necessary. Then, go to the section of your profile, pressing on its thumbnail located in the lower right corner, and tap on the menu icon.

Now go to the Settings> Accounts> Recently deleted section, locate the item you deleted in the last 30 days or in the last 24 hours and tap it.

Then press the icon (…) located in the upper right corner and in the menu that is shown to you, press the Restore item twice consecutively; then confirms that you want to restore the content by receiving a security code via e-mail or SMS.

In the next screen that is shown to you, choose where to receive the security code (via e-mail or SMS ) and press the Next button. Then wait for the code to be received and enter it in the text field that is shown on the screen. Finally, confirm the restoration of the content on Instagram by pressing the Confirm button.

How to recover deleted photos from Instagram chat

Have you deleted a photo sent in a private Instagram chat and, now, would you like to know how to recover it?
