How to put Instagram on TikTok

After so much insistence from your friends, you too have succumbed to the temptation to subscribe to TikTok, the very popular social network that allows you to share short amateur video clips to be customized with filters, special effects and music. Having successfully completed the creation of your account, you immediately uploaded a photo to be associated with your profile and customized the bio of the latter without encountering any kind of problem. Unfortunately, however, you did not have the same luck when you tried to connect your Instagram account and TikTok and, for this reason, you are wondering if I can help you in this regard. Of course yes, God forbid!

If you dedicate a few minutes of your free time to me, I can explain how to put Instagram on TikTok by providing you with all the information you need to connect the two social networks. In the next lines you will first find the detailed procedure to connect Instagram to TikTok through the settings of the latter. Next, I’ll show you how to put the Instagram link directly in your profile bio on the Chinese social network. In addition, you will also find instructions for opening a support ticket in case you encounter problems linking the two accounts.

Preliminary information

Before getting to the heart of this tutorial and explaining how to put Instagram on TikTok, it might be useful to know that the famous Chinese social network provides a special function that allows all users, regardless of the number of followers, to connect an Instagram account. (and even a YouTube channel ) to your profile.

By doing so, you can show a button on your TikTok profile which, once pressed, automatically redirects to the linked profile. Alternatively, you can connect external social networks to TikTok “manually”, by inserting the link of the profile to link (eg the Instagram one) in the Website section of your TikTok account. This feature, however, is only available to users who have at least 5,000 followers.

Both functions, which can only be activated from smartphones and tablets using the TikTok app for Android devices (also available on alternative stores ) and iPhone / iPad, are especially useful for users who have a consistent number of followers/views on TikTok and intend to direct that traffic to Instagram as well.

How to put Instagram profile on TikTok

Is everything clear so far? Well, then let’s take action. The procedure for putting Instagram account on TikTok is quick and easy. All you have to do is access your profile settings and select the option to connect to the famous photo social network.

To proceed, launch the TikTok app and, if you have not set up automatic login to your account, select the Login option. In the new screen that appears, tap on the Use phone/email/username item, select the Email/username option (if you signed up for TikTok using your phone number, select the Phone tab and enter your number in the field appropriate), enter your login details in the Email or username and Password fields and tap the Login button to log in.

Alternatively, if you signed up for TikTok using your Facebook account, a Google account, your Apple ID or your Twitter profile, on the Sign in to TikTok screen, select the option of your interest among Continue with Facebook, Continue with Google, Continue with Apple and Continue with Twitter. After logging into your account, press the Me option located in the bottom menu and, in the new screen displayed, tap the Edit profile button. Now, locate the Instagram entry, select the Add Instagram to your profile option and press the Accept button.

Once this is done, enter the data associated with the Instagram account you intend to connect to TikTok in the Phone number, username or email and Password fields and tap the Login button. Alternatively, if you signed up for Instagram using your Facebook account, click on the Continue with Facebook option.

Regardless of the choice made previously, now tap the Authorize button, to allow TikTok to access your Instagram profile information (username and account type) and complete the connection between the two social networks.

If everything went well, in the Edit profile screen, near the Instagram entry, you should see the username used on the famous photo social network. Also, by accessing the main screen of your TikTok profile, by pressing on the Me option placed in the bottom menu, you should see the Instagram icon next to the Edit profile option, indicating that your account has been successfully connected.

In case of second thoughts, you can disconnect Instagram from TikTok by repeating the procedure I just indicated. To do this, tap the Me option, press the Edit profile button, tap the Instagram item and select the Disconnect option from the menu that opens. Simple, right?

How to put Instagram link on TikTok

As mentioned in the opening lines of this guide, it is possible to put the Instagram link on TikTok also in the bio of your profile. This feature, however, is only available to users even if they have at least 5,000 followers.

If this is your case, grab your smartphone or tablet, launch the TikTok app and, if you haven’t already, log into your account. Then press on the Me item, in the bottom menu, tap the Edit profile button and, in the new screen displayed, locate the Website option.

At this point, press on the Add website item, enter the URL of your Instagram profile (in this regard, my guide on how to copy the Instagram link may be useful ) in the appropriate field and tap on the Prefer option, to save the changes and put the link in bio on TikTok.

How to put Instagram filters on TikTok

If your intention is to put Instagram filters on TikTok, I am sorry to tell you that this is not possible. However, you can first make a video on the famous photo social network and save it on your device and then upload it to TikTok.

If you think this is a valid solution and you want to record a video on the spot, start the Instagram app for Android or iPhone, tap the + button and, in the new screen displayed, select the option you prefer between Story and Reel. Then select the effects you want to apply and press the button to start recording.

Once the registration has been completed and the additional filters and effects of your interest have been applied, tap on the down arrow icon to download the video in question on your device (without necessarily uploading it to Instagram too).

If, on the other hand, the video to which you intend to apply the Instagram filters is already available on your device, press the + button, choose the Post option, select the video of your interest and tap on the Next item, at the top right. At this point, choose which filters to apply and press the Next and Share buttons, to publish it on your Instagram profile and download it later. To download you can use special services, such as those indicated in my guide dedicated to apps to download videos from Instagram.

After making the video of your interest, applying the Instagram filters and downloading it to your device, all you have to do is start the TikTok app, press the + button located in the bottom menu and select the Upload option. Then choose the video to upload, press the Next (three consecutive times) and Publish buttons and that’s it. For the detailed procedure, you can check out my guide on how to make videos on TikTok.

In case of problems

If you have followed the instructions I have given you in the previous paragraphs in detail but, despite this, you have not been able to connect your Instagram profile on TikTok, you can request assistance from the famous Chinese social network by accessing the Feedback and assistance section of the app.

To do this, start the TikTok app, press on the Me option in the bottom menu and, in the new screen displayed, tap on the three dots icon at the top right. Now, locate the Assistance section in the opened menu, select the item Report a problem, choose the Account and profile and Edit profile options and press on the item Adding YouTube and Instagram accounts to the profile.

Now, try to put into practice the instructions displayed on the screen, to try to solve your problems in complete autonomy. If you still can’t create your account on TikTok, go back to the Adding YouTube and Instagram accounts to your profile section, locate the item Is the problem solved? , choose the No option and select the item The problem persists.

In the new screen displayed, describe your problem in the Tell us your feedback field, press the landscape icon to upload any screenshots of the problem, and tap the Report button to send your report.

At any time, you can view the status of your reports and read any responses from the TikTok staff. To do this, access the Report a problem section, click on the sheet icon, top right, and select the ticket of your interest.
