Preliminary information
Before explaining the steps that will lead you to obtain the Polished Stone, let me tell you a little about the Stone and its derivatives in the world of Minecraft.
You may have noticed, in fact, that Stone is one of the most common materials within the world of Minecraft. You can find it without even having to dig, or by removing a few blocks of Earth on the surface, and you can collect it using a simple wooden pickaxe.
To build a Wooden Pickaxe, you just need to get some Wood by interacting with a tree, even with your bare hands, and working the Wood Logs obtained to create at least 5 units of Wooden Planks.
By further processing 2 units of Wooden Planks you will get 4 units of Wooden Sticks, 2 of which you will need to build your Wooden Pickaxe. By placing 2 units of Wooden Sticks and 3 units of Wooden Planks on a workbench, you can obtain a Wooden Pickaxe that can collect the Stone.
At this point, you are ready to take action and collect the Stone: let’s see how.
How to make polished stone in Minecraft
As you have surely noticed, when you collect the Stone with a Pickaxe you get some Crushed Stone, which is the product of the breaking of the Stone block. Despite the fact that this block is quite useful and perfectly capable of serving as a building material, you are surely wondering how to make Polished Stone in Minecraft from it.
Well, to get this material you must first create a Furnace that allows you to work the crushed stone blocks that you have previously obtained. If you don’t know how to do it, interact on a workbench and place 8 units of Crushed Stone in the appropriate slots.
In this way, you will get a furnace that is already working, but you can make the latter more performing by adding extra tools to it, such as the Melting Oven and the Smoker: to learn more, I suggest you read my guide on how to make the Furnace on Minecraft.
Good. Once the Furnace is built, make sure you have some fuel to power it. While you can use Wood Logs, Wood Planks or even Wood Sticks for fuel, I highly recommend using a more suitable material.
For example, you can get Coal by digging until you find Coarse Coal, which you can collect using a Stone Pickaxe. Alternatively, you can use Charcoal obtained by cooking Wood Logs inside the Furnace.
Now that you have the fuel and some Crushed Stone, place the Furnace on the ground.
The creation of the Polished Stone takes place in two steps. The first step is to cook the crushed stone, so you interact with the furnace. Now place 1 unit of Crushed Stone in the top block and 1 unit of fuel in the bottom block to create Stone.
Now that you have created some Stone, interact with the Furnace again. Place 1 unit of Stone on the top block and 1 unit of fuel on the bottom block, in case you run out of fuel. In this way you will get the Polished Stone.
As you can see, making Polished Stone in Minecraft is really simple. With this block, you will be able to build structures that are aesthetically better than the structures in rubble or stone, but not only.
The Polished Stone, in fact, is also one of the materials necessary for the construction of a Melting Furnace, a very useful tool in the advanced stages of the game.
You can find out all about furnaces and their uses by reading my guide on how to make the furnace in Minecraft, which contains useful instructions to allow you to create numerous variations of this useful tool.
