How to make a gate in Minecraft
How to make a gate in Minecraft: Minecraft is such a boundless game that it is often difficult to understand how to make even objects that at first glance might seem “basic”. In fact, Mojang’s title takes a long time to master properly and it is practically impossible to remember all the combinations to create the objects by heart. For example, you would now be interested in creating a simple gate, but you just can’t figure out how to proceed.
Don’t worry – it’s actually nothing complicated. Also, if you want, I will guide you step by step through the procedure, through this tutorial of mine dedicated, precisely, to how to make a gate in Minecraft. In particular, I will explain both how to find the elements you need to manufacture this object and the possibilities offered by the game in this sense. In short, I will analyze the subject at 360 degrees.
Courage: why are you still standing there motionless in front of the screen? Are you going to learn how to build a gate within Mojang’s title? I think so, so ban the chatter and take action. I wish you good reading and have fun!

Preliminary information
Before going into the details of the procedure on how to make a gate in Minecraft, I think it may interest you to know more about this possibility.
Well, within Mojang’s title there is an object called the Gate. The latter is usually used to enter the enclosure of the animals without them being able to go out. It can also be combined in several units, in order to give life to more complex structures.
In any case, making the object in question is very simple: you need 4 sticks and 2 units of any wooden planks. All you have to do, therefore, is to break a part of the tree, take the resulting trunk and insert it into the crafting table (accessible from the inventory by pressing, for example, the E key on PC ), extracting the 4 unit of axes.
Now you need a workbench to make your creations. The latter is created by joining 4 units of aces (the ones you obtained previously) within the crafting table.
After that, break another part of the tree and use the Trunk to get more planks. At this point, interact with the workbench and place 2 units of axes on the crafting table, to get 4 sticks.
Perfect, now you have all the elements you need to create the Gate in Minecraft Survival mode.
In short, this is not a complicated procedure. However, if you need more guidance, I recommend that you check out my tutorial on how to survive on Minecraft, in which I explained in detail how to create a little bit of all the basic elements you need in the Survival mode of the Mojang title.
Another possibility offered by Minecraft is to use fences and exploit the Redstone Dust to create a mechanism that goes to “hide” the latter, creating a sort of automatic gate.
In this case, the elements you need are different. In fact, you need some blocks of any kind, fences, sticky pistons, Redstone torches and a lever. To understand how to find these materials, which may be a bit complex to manufacture/find, I suggest you use a handy tool.
I am referring to MineSearch, accessible directly via its official website. Once connected to the latter, you can use it to find the combinations of elements necessary to create a certain object: simply type the name of the element you need in the search bar at the top right and select the most relevant result.
In this way, the necessary combination of objects will appear on the screen and you just have to reproduce it in Minecraft. In any case, if you want some advice, the first time you make one of these structures with Redstone, try making it in Creative mode. By doing this, you will avoid making too many mistakes when building the structure in Survival mode.
How to make a gate in Minecraft
After explaining in detail what elements are needed to build a gate, it’s time to explain how to make it concretely in Minecraft.
All you have to do is interact with the workbench and use the 6 lower blocks, placing, one on top of the other, 2 sticks on the left, 2 boards in the center and 2 sticks on the right.
Obviously, you may want to repeat this process to have more units of this element, going to recover the basic materials again through the indications I gave you in the previous chapter.
By doing so, you will be able to extract the Gate, moving it within your quick inventory. To use it, simply place any block on the left and any block on the right and place the gate in between.
Already thanks to this object you can build enclosures for animals, just as I explained to you in my guide on how to build a farm in Minecraft.
How to make an automatic gate in Minecraft
How do you say? Did you understand how to create a gate in Minecraft thanks to my instructions, but would you like to use it to create more complex structures? No problem, I’ll explain immediately how to create a very interesting automatic construction.
To proceed, break 3 blocks of terrain and create a 4-block high “hole”.
Place, therefore, some Fences above the last line of the “hole” you created.
Go down into the “hole” and place any 3 blocks on the ground, placing 3 Redstone torches and 3 sticky pistons facing up on it.
After that, start from each block that has a flashlight on it and trace a path of Redstone dust. Of course, you can easily enlarge the “hole”, being careful not to break anything.
Obviously, the goal is to create the “steps” with blocks to let out in surface the Redstone powder.
Next, place a lever just above the last “step” and try to use it: you should see that the pistons “open” the small gate.
Perfect, if everything works correctly, you just have to “close” the hole you created, being careful not to break anything. The game is done!
Great, now you have learned how to make a gate that “disappears” into thin air. Obviously, what I have taught you how to make is just a basic structure, which you can modify to your liking.
For example, the way I made the structure may not be very nice to look at, but it’s actually functional. You could, therefore, think of embellishing the building with walls or with other mechanisms similar to the one I have illustrated to you in order to give life to automatic gates of larger dimensions.
Since you are a fan of the Mojang title, I would also advise you to take a look at the page of my site dedicated to Minecraft, where you can find many guides that could be for you.
