How to index Google site

Google’s eye is always vigilant on what is happening on the Net and almost all sites (except for those that are part of the Deep Web ) automatically end up among the results of its searches. However, in some particular cases, the engine that takes care of “scanning” the Web in search of new information, does not carry out its work in a timely manner. How do you say? Is this exactly what seems to have happened with the site you created a few weeks ago? Well, then you definitely have to find out how to index a site on Google.

If you do not know, the Mountain View giant has made available to webmasters a tool that allows you to attract – so to speak – the search engine’s attention by directly reporting the addresses of the sites (or individual pages) that they do not yet appear in the SERP, i.e. in the pages containing the search results. In addition to explaining how to submit your site to Google, I will also provide you with some “tips” on how to effectively use SEO techniques, so that you can implement editorial strategies aimed at improving its positioning on the most famous search engine in the world.

Since I already hear you “pawing”, I would say not to waste any more time chatting. Courage: make yourself comfortable, take all the time you need to concentrate on reading the next paragraphs and, more importantly, implement the “tips” that I will give you. I am sure that if you work hard, you will improve your visibility on Google over time and you will be able to increase the number of visits to your website. Good luck!

Index a site on Google

To index a site on Google you don’t have to do who knows what particular procedures: as I mentioned at the beginning, in most cases you don’t even have to do anything, since Google does everything by itself! If your website does not appear in the Google SERP and, therefore, is not indexed by the latter, you can still use a free tool with which to solve the situation: Add / Update a URL.

The tool in question should be used if your site does not appear among the Google search results (or if some pages are listed in outdated versions, with outdated information), it does not serve to improve the positioning within the SERP. (that is a completely different matter that we will have the opportunity to deepen in a little while).

Having clarified this fundamental concept, I would say that we can get to the point and see together how to proceed. The official tool for reporting new (or updated) addresses to Google is the one available on this page. You can use it to report sites you are an administrator of or third-party sites/pages, it makes no difference.

How does it work? It is so intuitive that there is no need to even explain it. All you have to do is connect to it using the link I gave you a moment ago and then fill in the form displayed on the screen: enter, therefore, the address of the home page of your website in the URL text field and, if you wish, also add a short description of the same in the Comments text field. Then press the Add URL button which is located at the bottom of the page and, within a few days, your site should be indexed by Google. Admit it: you didn’t think it was that simple, did you?

Use SEO techniques effectively

Using the tool I told you about in the previous chapter, you should be able to “wake up” Google and allow your site to appear (but not to rise) in the search results. After indexing your website, however, you need to make your site appear at the top of the search engine SERP if you want to increase visitors. How can you do it? It is, at least in theory, simple: using SEO  ( Search Engine Optimization ) techniques effectively.

Let me be clear: even if you scrupulously follow the “tips” on SEO that I am about to give you, it is unlikely that you will be able to skyrocket the accesses to your website. It may take months or even years before obtaining appreciable results, for which he tries to have a little patience. It must also be said that no one knows exactly how Google’s algorithm works (not even me!) And that is why there are no “magic” techniques to optimize content for it.

Despite this, there are factors that, if taken into consideration, can only help a website: one above all is the creation of quality content. Since Google takes into consideration more than 200 factors to determine which content is most interesting for a user (based on the searches carried out by the latter), it is very important to focus everything on the quality of the content, trying to answer in the most exhaustive way. possible to the question posed. By doing this, you will not only please Google but, more importantly, you will provide truly useful content to your users.

I know, creating quality content is no small feat: it takes time, planning and dedication. But don’t worry: there are tools that can make your job easier, such as  Google Trends and KeywordTool. What is it about? I’ll explain it to you right away. Google Trends allows you to know in real time which are the most popular themes at a given moment, as well as have interesting data on the progress of searches made by users (I have already explained how to use it best in another guide ); Keyword Tool, on the other hand, allows you to identify the “secondary” keywords that are linked to the main keyword, which can help you in editorial choices regarding the writing of articles.

I’ll give you a practical example to make you understand how the aforementioned tools can come in handy. Let’s say you have a cooking blog and you want to rank at the top of the Google SERP article “ How to make ice cream“. Thanks to Google Trends you can know what is the volume of traffic generated by this keyword – so as to evaluate whether it is worth investing time to produce the content – and in which period of the year the keyword is searched most frequently (eg. from May to September); with Keyword Tool, on the other hand, you can understand which are the secondary keywords related to the main one (e.g. how to make chocolate ice cream, how to make lemon ice cream, how to make fried ice cream, etc.) and, therefore, what are the sub-paragraphs to be created in the article to increase its visibility.

If you want to further explore the topic related to SEO techniques, I suggest you read the book ” The Aranzulla Method ” (published by Mondadori Electa ), where I explained in a rather detailed way what were the techniques that allow websites to position themselves in top of the SERP of Google and other search engines.

Other useful resources for indexing a site on Google

In addition to the information I’ve given you in this guide, there are other useful resources for indexing a site on Google that deserve your attention. One of these is the official Google guide on SEO  which is specifically aimed at all those who wish to have more information about the techniques to be adopted to improve the positioning of their site on the “Big G” search engine.

We should not overlook the sites that deal in detail with specific issues related to SEO, such as Studio Samo and  Search Engine Land: the first offers a lot of content in Italian, while the second is in English. Both are two valuable resources for those who are recently entering the world of search engine content optimization.
