How to see who enters your Facebook profile

Checking the recent accesses on your Facebook account is perfectly possible both from a computer and from smartphones and tablets . The function that makes this possible, moreover, also offers the possibility to end the sessions of use of the social network: which means that anyone connected with your account will be forced to leave it. Below you will find explained everything about it.

From smartphones and tablets

I will show you immediately how to find out who enters your Facebook using the social network application for Android (also available on alternative stores and iPhone / iPad (the instructions I am about to give you are also valid if you use Facebook via browser ). , start the Facebook app and, on the home page, press the ☰ icon. Scroll down the page that is shown to you and tap on the Settings and privacy and Settings items .

Proceed, therefore, by pressing on the Password and protection item and, finally, press on the word Show next to the Devices from which you are logged in option . On the page that opens, you will be able to view the list of all recent accesses (even dating back to several months before) to your account. For each of them you will be shown the relative date and time, the device from which it was made and where the device was at the time of access (the location could often be approximate).

How do you say? Have you noticed an access from a device that you have never used and it makes you very suspicious? In this case, I recommend that you immediately terminate the usage session relating to the access in question. To do this, press the ⁝ icon on the right, corresponding to the access you see in the aforementioned list and then tap the Exit button . Furthermore, you can also end all active sessions simultaneously by pressing the Exit all sessions button located at the bottom of the list.

Then, run for cover and find out how to change your Facebook password and take other steps to prevent unauthorized access to your account from happening again.

From computer

The procedure for checking recent accesses to your Facebook account from a computer is very similar to the one just seen in the case of smartphones and tablets (the instructions below are valid even if you use the social network application for Windows 10 and later ).

First of all, connect to Facebook and, if necessary, log in by entering your account credentials in the appropriate fields (if you don’t remember them anymore, take a look at my tutorial on how to recover Facebook accounts ). Once logged in, click on the ▼ button at the top right and, in the panel that opens, first select the Settings and privacy item and then the Settings item .

At this point, click on the item Security and access located at the top left. To check all recent accesses, just click on the Show other mail item in the Where you are logged in box that you see above. If you have noticed in the list a device that you have never used to connect to Facebook and this makes you suspicious, click on the ⁝ icon located to the right, corresponding to the access in the list and, then, click on the item Exit . If you want to end all active sessions click on the Exit all sessions button you see below.

Then run to put in place all the necessary measures to avoid unauthorized access to your Facebook profile , following the advice you find below.

How to avoid unauthorized access to your Facebook

In the list of recent accesses to your account, have you noticed several devices that you have never used and, therefore, would like to immediately take measures to make your Facebook profile safer and more secure ? In this case I will provide you with my help by explaining, in the next chapters, how to achieve your intent using some specific functions of the social network in question.

Two-factor authentication

As I explained to you in the tutorial you are reading, Facebook “keeps track” of the accesses to your account and the devices and browsers usually used to perform the same. By enabling two-factor authentication , if Facebook detects access from an unrecognized device, it will request, in addition to the account password, also the insertion of a code generated in real time and obtainable via SMS, authentication app or physical security key.

To activate two-factor authentication on the Facebook application for smartphones and tablets or from a mobile browser , log in to the social network and go to > Settings and privacy> Settings> Password and protection> Use two-factor authentication .

At this point, tap on the authentication option you prefer: Authentication app (you will be prompted to use apps that generate real-time codes such as Google Authenticator ), Text message (not recommended) or Security key (this is devices that can connect to your device via Bluetooth or USB if necessary to confirm your identity; in the case of Facebook on mobile devices, however, this method is not supported and you will not be able to configure it in any way).

Once you have selected the verification method that suits you best, click on the Continue button . If you have chosen the verification option via the authentication app, you will be invited to frame the QR code shown on the screen with the app you have chosen or to insert the code that is shown to you in it. If you have chosen the option relating to SMS , you can directly select the telephone number associated with your account or type a different one and, finally, you will have to confirm it by typing the verification code received via SMS.

Do you want to know how to carry out the steps I just showed you on a computer too ? I’ll settle you immediately. Proceed by connecting to Facebook , go to the menu > Settings and privacy> Settings> Security and access (top) and click on the Edit button next to the item Use two-factor authentication .

At this point, the steps to follow are exactly the same as I indicated in the paragraph above, dedicated to smartphones and tablets (if you have selected the physical security key as the authentication method, you will need to connect it to your computer via USB or Bluetooth connection. to configure it).

Unacknowledged access warnings

In addition to what I have shown you previously, on Facebook you also have the possibility to activate a function, relating to the protection of your account, which allows you to receive a notification whenever a login is detected by a device or browser other than those that you use regularly.

Do you want to know how to enable this setting on your profile? I will gladly satisfy you: if you use the social network app for smartphones and tablets (or access from a mobile browser ), tap on the ☰ icon located at the top right, scroll down the page that opens, tap on the voice Privacy Settings , and then awards the item Settings .

Now, tap on the Password and protection item and, on the page that is shown to you, select the item Receive alerts on unrecognized accesses . At this point , press on the item Notifications , select the item Receive notifications and, finally, press the Save button . If you want to receive notifications also for “unrecognized” accesses to Messenger , go back to the previous page, press on the Messenger item and repeat the last step.

Do you want to activate notifications for unrecognized logins from PC? Then connected to Facebook , click on the ▼ button located at the top right, then select the item Settings and privacy and click on the item Settings . At this point, press on the Protection and access item and repeat the same steps as in the previous paragraph on smartphones and tablets.

Once this setting is enabled, you will receive a notification from Facebook whenever an unrecognized access to your account is detected and you will be able to check the place and the device from which the latter was made. In addition, you can also directly change your password .

Change your password

If you have noticed “unusual” accesses to your account that arouse your suspicion, my advice is to change the password for access to the social network . If you are using the Facebook application for smartphone or tablet (or access from a mobile browser ), go to > Settings and privacy> Settings> Password and protection> Change Password .

Now you just have to type, in the appropriate fields you see on the screen, your current password , the new password you want to register (use a secure password ), confirm the latter and, finally, press the Update password button located at the bottom . To repeat what I have just explained to you on your computer , connected to the Facebook home page , go to the top menu > Settings and privacy> Settings> Security and access> Change password and repeat the steps seen above for the smartphone app and tablet.

It wasn’t difficult at all, do you agree? If you have doubts and / or problems with this procedure, I refer you to my guide on how to change your password on Facebook .

How to know who enters your Facebook profile

Have you always wondered if there is a way to control who visits your personal Facebook profile page , namely your Diary? In this case, I can’t give you any suggestions about it, as Facebook doesn’t have any such options. In fact, I urge you to pay close attention to any website, application or extension that claims to be able to get you this kind of information.

In all cases, these are in fact malware , viruses , scams or other sources of risk for your privacy. My advice, in general, is to always try to protect your personal data and, therefore, always check that the source of applications and software is reliable (by reading reviews about it on virtual stores or with a simple Google search ) .

In short, at the time of writing to you, Facebook does not provide an option to control visits to your profile .
