How to enlarge the smartphone keyboard
If you want to know how to enlarge the keyboard on Android or that of your iPhone / iPad , in the next chapters I will show you how to do this easily.
Gboard (Android / iOS / iPadOS)
To enlarge the keyboard with Gboard , the famous Google keyboard available “standard” on many Android devices or available as a third-party app on the same system as the green robot (via the Play Store ) and on iPhone and iPad (via the App Store ), you must first launch the aforementioned keyboard app to access its settings panel.
At this point, on Android , select the items Preferences> Keyboard height and set one of the values in the list: these range from Very Low and Very High , whose normal is the default value. If you need maximum magnification, select the Very High option .
If you’re using an iPhone or iPad , however, there is no keyboard zoom feature in the Gboard app. Therefore, what you need to do is adjust the accessibility options of iOS / iPadOS to enlarge the elements on the screen: I will talk about it in more detail in the chapter of the guide dedicated to the keyboard for iPhone / iPad.
Swiftkey (Android / iOS / iPadOS)
Want to know how to enlarge HUAWEI keyboard ? Nothing simpler! If you own a smartphone from this company, the default keyboard app is Microsoft’s SwiftKey . In general, then, this keyboard can be installed and used on any Android device (via the Play Store or alternative stores ) and on iPhone / iPad (via the App Store ).
To proceed with enlarging the SwiftKey keyboard , what you need to do is first start the app via its icon on the home screen or in the applications menu. Then, if you use Android , select the Layout and keys> Resize items to access the virtual keyboard resizing screen.
What you need to do now is to use the blue levers on the edges to increase the size of the keyboard. When done, simply hit the OK button to confirm. If you made a mistake, you need to press the Reset key to restore the keyboard size to the default. This is a great method if you, for example, want to enlarge your tablet keyboard and place it on the screen wherever you want.
If you have an iPhone or iPad , the size of the virtual keyboard cannot be enlarged in any way with the SwiftKey App. What you have to do, therefore, is to use the default accessibility options of iOS / iPadOS to change the size of the elements on the screen as explained in the chapter of the guide dedicated to the keyboard for iPhone / iPad .
Default keyboard of iPhone / iPad
Are you curious about how to enlarge the keyboard on iPad or iPhone ? Nothing simpler! Know that the procedures I’m about to describe to you not only naturally work on the iPhone as well, but can be applied to zoom in on any third-party keyboard installed on Apple devices, such as Gboard and SwiftKey , which I told you about in previous chapters.
First, you can consider using the Zoom feature of iOS / iPadOS. To do this, start the Settings app , whose icon is on the home screen and scroll through the different items until you find and select the one called Accessibility . Once this is done, presses on the Zoom item and move the lever from OFF to ON in correspondence with the Zoom item , so as to enable the magnification of the screen.
When you find yourself typing text in a text box or in a word processor app, you can move the zoom box using the white bar at the bottom of the screen: by doing so, you can move the box towards the bottom of the display, to frame the keyboard. If so, you can use the three-finger drag display input to frame the keyboard.
If the Zoom feature is inconvenient, you can then change the entire iPhone screen (not available on iPad) by setting a magnification. To do this, start the Settings app , select the Screen and brightness> Display items and choose the With zoom option . Then press the Set button at the top and confirm everything using the Use “With zoom” button . You can return to the default setting at any time by choosing the Standard option .
How to enlarge the keyboard on a PC
Do you want to know how to enlarge the virtual keyboard of your Windows PC or Mac ? In that case, in the next chapters you will find all the information you need to adjust the magnification settings of the default virtual keyboards of these operating systems.
Enlarge the keyboard on Windows
On computers running Windows 10 or Windows 11 , you can enable the On-Screen Keyboard in case you don’t have the ability to use a physical one. This tool can be enlarged if necessary, to better view the buttons on the monitor.
To enable the On-Screen Keyboard , click the Start button (the flag typically located at the bottom left of the taskbar), or press the Windows logo key on your keyboard. In the menu that is shown to you, then locate the entry Windows Accessibility and click on it, to expand the selection. From the items you see, then click on the one called On-Screen Keyboard . Alternatively, you can search for “osk” in the Start menu and hit Enter .
In the screen that is shown to you, you can see a virtual keyboard, similar to the physical one that connects to the computer. To change its zoom level, by decreasing or enlarging the keys displayed on the desktop, all you have to do is move the mouse to one of the four corners of the interface until you see the mouse cursor with the symbol of two arrows in directions opposite .
At this point, hold down the left mouse button and drag outwards, to change the size of the interface, so as to enlarge the Windows virtual keyboard screen.
On Windows 11, another virtual keyboard is available, accessible via the appropriate icon located near the system clock. If this icon is not present, click with the right mouse button on the taskbar (the bar at the bottom) and select the item Settings of the taskbar from the menu that is proposed to you. In the Icons section of the corner of the taskbar , move the lever next to the wording Virtual keyboard to ON .
The keyboard shown to you on the desktop is very small. If you want to increase its size, click on the gear icon in the upper left corner of its screen and press on the Theme and resizing item . In the settings panel, move the lever next to the word Keyboard size towards a value greater than 100 . Simple, am I right?
Zoom in on the keyboard on Mac
On macOS , you can use the Keyboard Viewer to create a virtual keyboard and type letters, numbers, and special characters, just like with the default Mac keyboard.
Activating the Keyboard Viewer is a simple operation: just click on the icon with a window symbol , found in the upper right corner of the menu bar, to display a contextual menu. Among the items indicated, select the one called Show keyboard viewer .
If you do not have this shortcut in the menu bar, click on the icon with the symbol of a bitten apple in the upper left corner of the menu bar. In the context menu, select the System Preferences item and, in the screen that is shown to you, click on the Keyboard button . On the Input Sources tab , put a check mark in the box next to Show Keyboard Menu in Menu Bar .
The Keyboard Viewer can be resized at any time to decrease or increase the magnification of the keys that are shown on the screen. To do this, click the (…) icon in the upper right corner of the virtual keyboard. In the menu that is shown to you, select the Resize item and choose one of the values on the screen ranging from 30% up to 210% enlargement.
