However, you don’t quite understand how this mechanic works and so you’ve come this far to learn how to drift in GTA . That’s the way it is, isn’t it? Preliminary information
Before going into the details of the procedure on how to drift in GTA , I think it may interest you to know more about this possibility.
Well, the drift is nothing more than the “ drift “ , that is an action that can be implemented with almost any type of car present within the series. However, obviously it is always good to use racing models , since you need to reach a high speed to be able to drift properly .
In this case I don’t have too many specific advice to give you, as Rockstar Games is used to implement a wide range of cars in the GTA series video games. However, if you want to go deeper into the subject, you might think about referring to my tutorial on the best cars of GTA , in which I went into further detail on the matter.
Also, as far as GTA Online is concerned, you might be interested in taking a look at cars like Drift Tampa and Drift Yosemite , as these are vehicles that particularly wink at this type of use.
For the rest, drifting can be particularly fun, especially on certain tracks, so I fully understand why you want to master this mechanic. This tutorial is here for exactly that reason.
How to drift in GTA 5
After explaining the situation to you in general, I’d say it’s time to take action and tell you how to drift in GTA. In this first part of the guide I will deal with how to drift in GTA 5 , but clearly the indications are also valid for knowing how to drift in GTA Online , since the latter is nothing more than a mode of the fifth chapter of the Rockstar Games series.
Drift GTA 5 without mod
Explain in words how driftare no mod in GTA 5 and GTA Online is not exactly simple. However, if you have already performed this action in other games or have a little patience, I can assure you that it is possible to achieve this goal without too much trouble (or, if you have the PC version of the game, later I will explain how to simplify the life).
Well, to drift, once you get into a car , preferably a racing car, you just need to reach a certain speed and approach a curve . Once you enter the corner, you need to release the button to accelerate .
At this point, turn the car in the direction you want to drift by pressing the handbrake button . By doing so, you will begin to perform a “skid”. To stop the latter, you will have to use the movement button linked to the opposite direction , in order to get back on the “track” and straighten the car after the curve.
I remind you that the handbrake button is R1 on PlayStation, RB on Xbox and space bar on PC. Small note: do not make the mistake of using the brake or reverse gear , as it could cause you problems in terms of momentum and this will not allow you to drift properly.
I know: these indications may not be exactly easy to implement in certain contexts. However, I am sure that by trying several times you will be able to achieve your goal.
Drift GTA 5 mod
I understand that being able to master the drift using the indications I provided in the previous chapter can be a bit difficult, especially if you are a novice user who has not yet become familiar with the driving system offered by GTA 5.
For this reason, you may be interested in the use of mods , i.e. content created directly by the community. In fact, you must know that, over the years, some enthusiasts have created external programs , clearly available only for the PC version of GTA 5 , able to make the drift system much more detailed and simple.
Before starting with the instructions regarding the installation and use of a special mod dedicated to this world, I would like to clarify that I do not take any responsibility for possible problems with your account .
In fact, the use of mods, even if done without the will to exploit “tricks” to win online and the like, is not exactly well seen by everyone and it is not entirely clear what the developers think about it.
For this reason, I advise you to think carefully before using content made by the community and, at the most, to evaluate the test of the drift system only in the Story mode and without “boosting” your account in any way.
In any case, the mod I will use in this guide, which works with both the Steam and Social Club versions of the game, automatically deactivates once the game is closed. Plus, just don’t start the content when you don’t want to use it.
Summing up, I warned you. If you are still willing to continue, the first thing to do is connect to the GTA5 Mods website and press the green Download button twice , in order to start the download of the mod called GTA5 Drift . By doing so, you will get a ZIP file .
So extract the contents of the latter in any folder, for example on the desktop, and start the GTA5 Dr! ft.exe , selecting the version of the game at your disposal and pressing the Ok button . In this way, a window will appear on the screen that will allow you to manage all the parameters relating to the drift.
All you have to do is start GTA 5 , enter Story mode , get on a vehicle that you think is suitable for this operation and press the F5 button on the keyboard to activate the mod (you can then use the same key to deactivate it).
Perfect, now you can “play” a little with the settings offered by the mod and carry out all the tests you want in terms of drift . You will see that through this content created by the community everything will be easier and you will be able to get a lot of satisfactions.
In fact, it is enough simply to have fun with the options, accelerate and give life to particularly intriguing “skids”. You’ll probably feel like you’re in Fast and Furious or maybe Need for Speed .
How to drift in GTA San Andreas
How do you say? Are you still used to playing GTA San Andreas , the iconic installment of the series originally released in 2004, and would you like to understand how to drift in this title? No problem: I’ll explain immediately what can be done about it.
In this case, you must know that in reality everything is very similar to what I explained in the chapter dedicated to GTA 5 . In fact, the central pivot is always the handbrake . Its key is R1 on PlayStation, RB on Xbox and spacebar on PC.
The procedure to be carried out is always the same, which you know well if you have already carried out “drifting” on racing titles related to the platform on which you are playing. However, I try to offer you an alternative approach , as some users are better off this way.
In fact, someone can drift more easily by quickly pressing the handbrake button just before the corner, and then accelerating to the maximum . This is where the tastes and skills in terms of driving come into play, but you could try to use this “technique” as well.
In any case, at the center of everything there is always the handbrake, so it is on the latter that you have to aim to try to make some “skidding” done properly. As for the cars to use , for this chapter of the GTA series I have some concrete advice.
In fact, there are not a few who over the years have decided to rely on a Uranus to be able to drift particularly pleasing to the eye, obviously after getting a little carried away with this game mechanic.
For the rest, since you are a fan of the Rockstar Games video game series, I would recommend that you take a look at the page of my site dedicated to GTA , where you can find many other guides that may interest you.
