Create a folder with app
You are a very specific type and you want everything to be in its place. On your smartphone you usually install a lot of apps, so now you would like to understand how to create an app folder , so that you always know where the app you need is located.
No problem, below you will find all the information you need, both to work with the EMUI stock launcher, and using a third-party launcher.
EMUI
You are not a great lover of Android customization, so you use the EMUI stock launcher , in which you can find all the apps arranged on the home screen, without the classic “app drawer”. You wish you could sort everything, so you want to create folders, but you just don’t know how.
Don’t worry, creating folders with the EMUI stock launcher is really simple. All you have to do is press and hold the icon of the app you want to put in a folder and move it over the icon of another app you want to put in the same folder.
Once the folder is created, tap on it to open it. From here you can change the name of the folder by simply tapping on the title “Folder 1” . Furthermore, if you want to add other apps to the same folder, all you have to do is tap on the Add button , select the apps you want to add to that folder and tap on the OK button to confirm the operation.
Note : I used a smartphone equipped with Android 10 and EMUI 10 for the tutorial . In any case, the indications I have just given you should be valid for all versions of Android and EMUI.
Alternative solutions
The EMUI stock launcher is too limiting for your needs, so you have decided to use alternative solutions , using a third-party launcher with which you can then create the folders for your applications.
A launcher that I suggest you use is Nova Launcher , available for download on the Play Store and alternative stores , if you use a HUAWEI device with HMS : to install it, search for it in the market of your device, press on its icon (or connect directly to one of the download links I gave you a moment ago, to do first) and click on the Install button .
This launcher is free, but if you want to unlock all the features you have to buy the Prime version at the price of 3.99 euros .
Once the app is installed, tap on its icon to open it, perform the initial configuration to decide on some customizations (you can always change them later), tap on the button with the √ icon at the bottom right and wait for Nova Launcher to load.
Before proceeding with creating the folders, you need to set the launcher as default. To do this, open the Settings app , usually recognizable by the icon of a gear, and go to Apps> Default apps : in this section, tap on the App Home item and select Nova launcher .
Now that you’ve set Nova Launcher as your default, you can create a folder by simply holding down an app icon and moving it over another app’s icon. Then, tap on the folder you just created and enter the folder name (not mandatory) by tapping on the Edit name item . Furthermore, by tapping on the button with the three dots , a small menu will open with some additional options: Select app allows you to choose the apps to be included in that particular folder, while the Sort item will change the order of the apps in the folders by placing them in alphabetical order.
It does not end there, because from the Nova Launcher Settings you can access other additional options. To do this, press and hold on the home screen and from the menu that appears on the screen, tap on the Settings button . Next, tap on the Folders item , where you can choose the Window Style , Icon Layout and Folder Icon Appearance : you can really indulge yourself with customization.
How do you say? Do you want to create folders in the app drawer too? To access this feature you must necessarily purchase the Prime version of Nova Launcher. Next, access the Nova Launcher Settings , tap on the App menu item , scroll down and tap on the Groups item in the app menu . In this screen you can create the folders to be inserted in the app drawer. To do this, just tap on the button with a + icon next to the Folders item : type the name of the folder and tap on the Add button . To add apps to this folder, simply open the app drawer and tap on the newly created folder: now tap on the button with ithree dots and then on the Select app item , through which you can select all the apps to be included in this folder.
You can repeat the same operation to create as many folders as you want, without any limitation.
Do you prefer to use a different launcher, but don’t know which one yet? In this case you may find my tutorial useful in which it shows you which are the best launchers for Android .
Create a folder with files
In your smartphone you really have a lot of files, but you really don’t like clutter. For this reason you would like to understand how to create a folder with files on your HUAWEI, in order to keep everything in order.
Don’t worry, below I will show you how to act both with the File Manager app present by default on all HUAWEI smartphones, and with a third-party app, which could come in handy.
File management
To be able to create a folder with the File Management app, all you have to do is open the app in question and tap on the Phone or SD card item , depending on whether you want to act on the internal or external memory.
Once inside the internal (or external) memory, to create a folder, all you have to do is tap on the button at the top left ( folder icon with the + inside ): type a name for the folder and tap on the OK button to confirm the operation.
Once the folder is created, you need to select the files you want to move into it. After locating the files you want to move, press and hold on one of them for a few seconds and then select all the files you want by placing the check mark next to each of them. Once this is done, tap on the Move button located in the bottom bar, select the folder created previously and tap again on the Move button at the bottom. It wasn’t difficult, was it?

Alternative solutions
The File Manager app, which I told you about earlier, doesn’t fully satisfy you, so you would like to know some workarounds , don’t you? As an alternative, I recommend using the Google Files app , available for download on the Play Store and alternative stores : to install it, search for it in the market of your device, press on its icon (or connect directly to one of the download links that I have provided above, to do first) and press the Install button .
The app in question is free and ad-free. In addition, it is also perfectly compatible with HUAWEI smartphones with HMS .
To be able to easily create a folder with the Files app, just open the app in question, tap on the Browse button in the bottom bar and tap on the item Internal memory or SD card , depending on the type of memory you want to act on.
Once in the internal or external memory of your smartphone, tap on the button with the three dots at the top right and from the menu that appears on the screen, tap on the item Add new folder : type the name of the folder and tap on the Create folder button .
To be able to move the files into the newly created folder, all you have to do is locate the file you want to move, tap on the button with the three dots next to it and from the menu that appears on the screen tap on the Move to item : select Internal memory or SD card , then tap on the folder you just created and finally on the Move here button .

Create a folder with photos and videos
You’re a guy who takes a lot of photos and shoots a lot of videos with your smartphone, perhaps to capture special days. To keep everything in order, however, you would like to understand how to create a folder with photos and videos , in order to keep your memories always in order.
No problem, below I will show you how to act using the Gallery app on your HUAWEI smartphone, as well as offer you an alternative solution using a third-party app.

You want to keep the photos and videos in the Gallery app of your HUAWEI smartphone in order , so you want to understand how to create a folder.
The first thing you need to do is open the Gallery app , which you find by default on your HUAWEI smartphone, tap on the Albums tab from the bar at the bottom and then tap on the Add album button : type the name you want to give to the album and tap on the OK button to confirm the operation.
Once the album has been created, an image selection screen will automatically open, so you just have to select the photos you want to move and tap on the button with a V icon at the top right: now, from the menu that appears on the screen, decide whether to move a photo by tapping on Move or to copy it by tapping on Copy .

Alternative solutions
If you want to use alternative solutions to the default Gallery app, I recommend using the simple Gallery app , available for download on the Play Store and on alternative stores : to install it, search for it in the market of your device, press on its icon (or connect directly to one of the download links I gave you a moment ago, to do first) and press the Install button .
The app in question is free and ad-free, so it’s a really good alternative to HUAWEI’s Gallery app.
The app interface is very simple (as the name suggests), so it is a really good solution for those who are not very familiar with smartphones. Once the app is open, tap on the Allow button from the pop-up that appears to allow access to the photos and videos. To create a folder, just tap on the button with the three dots at the top right and from the menu that appears on the screen tap on the item Create a new folder : type the name you want to give the folder and tap on the OK button .
To be able to move photos or videos into the new folder, all you have to do is select them by holding down on them, tap on the button with the three dots at the top right and from the menu that appears tap on the item Move to or Copy to , according to your needs: select the folder you just created and wait for the procedure to be completed.
As another alternative, you can use the Google Photos app , which however cannot be used on HUAWEI smartphones without Google services.
