Forced reboot of the phone – what is it and why is it necessary?
Instructions and different ways to force restart smartphones.
If the phone is frozen and does not respond to touches on the screen, you can force it to reboot. There are universal methods that work on most devices – you need to try them out first. There are also special ways to force a reboot that are relevant to certain brands of smartphones.
Press the power button
Most often, a forced reboot is activated if you hold the on / off button for a long time – from 30 seconds to a minute. If successful, a short vibration will occur and the Android logo will appear on the screen.
In this way, you can restart most devices, as well as phones from Xiaomi, Redmi, Huawei, Honor, Lenovo and Motorola brands.
Press two buttons at the same time
The procedure is the same, but you need to hold down two buttons at the same time – the power key, which turns the phone on / off, and the volume up button. So you can force restart, for example, OPPO smartphones.
If it doesn’t work, you need to hold down the power and volume down button – this is the first way to reboot Samsung devices.
Press three buttons at the same time
If the screen does not work, interaction with the phone is carried out through mechanical power buttons, volume up and down. To prevent users from rebooting unintentionally, many manufacturers have assigned all three physical keys to this action – pressing them together by accident is unlikely to work.
You can force reboot the device if you hold down all 3 buttons for a few seconds until the OS logo appears on the screen. In this way, you can force restart Samsung smartphones (second method) – in this case, you need to hold down the buttons for about 10 seconds.
Reboot via Recovery Mode – reset to factory settings
To reboot your smartphone through recovery mode, you first need to enter it. You can do this with a key combination, but it may vary depending on the brand of the device. Most often, the mode is activated if you hold:
- Power button and volume down.
- Power, volume up and home button – powered by Samsung.
- Power button and volume up (works on Xiaomi, Huawei, Honor and ASUS).
Important ! The action described below will not only reboot the device, but also erase all information on it, i.e. reset the phone to factory settings . It should be used only as a last resort, if other methods have not worked.
In Recovery mode, a menu with several actions will appear. Using the volume up and down buttons (up and down), you need to select the line wipe data / factory reset . You need to activate the action with the power key.
