Epic Games has released a full version of Unreal Engine 5

At the State of Unreal presentation, Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney announced that the Unreal Engine 5 game engine has become available to all developers and visual content creators.

Unreal Engine 5 is a popular engine that allows you to create game projects and provides more realistic visuals. Tim Sweeney noted that the engine has been successfully tested, including in the game Fortnite, which switched to UE5 in December 2021.

Particular attention in Unreal Engine 5 is given to the Nanite geometry system and the Lumen global illumination system. In addition, the engine has new and improved tools for creating models, animation and sound that do not require the help of third-party editors. The user interface has also been updated.

At the presentation, the company opened access to two introductory projects: Lyra Starter Game and The City Sample. They will help developers to get acquainted with the key features of the engine and learn how to work with it.

Unreal Engine 5 is available for download via the Epic Games launcher, and you can learn more about its features on this page .
