Dangerous radiation: can a smartphone in a trouser pocket cause impotence?

There is still debate in society about whether smartphones can cause impotence in men.

Is radiation from smartphones so dangerous?

It’s no secret that smartphones emit electromagnetic radiation. Back in the early 2000s, there was a myth in society that if you constantly carry a mobile phone in your pocket, you can earn erectile dysfunction, or impotence.

One of the main indicators of the radiation power of a smartphone is SAR (Specific Absorbtion Rate), the rate of which is 2 W / kg. We can be glad that the SAR rate is too high for modern smartphones, since the devices simply do not have such a radiation power. The SAR of most smartphones is between 0.5-1 W / kg.

But the research is not so straightforward. Scientists from Hungary observed 300 men who carried a smartphone in their pants pocket for a year. A year later, their sperm count dropped by a third. However, this could also be influenced by bad habits, unhealthy lifestyles and stress. Canadian scientists, in turn, irradiated experimental mice with electromagnetic waves, which led to the fact that they lost attraction to each other. In Russia, they are sure that the development of impotence is most often influenced by stress, a sedentary lifestyle and alcohol.

Despite the fact that there is no exact answer to this question, there is still a way to protect yourself with an annual examination at the hospital.
